We have a big covered boat shed on our property. The ground is dirt. I have been storing vehicles in there and have been noticing increased amounts of rust on the undersides of the vehicles. Haven't found much information but am guessing I need to put some kind of plastic barrier on the ground. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to do this? I was thinking put stones over the barrier?

Level your dirt.
Then use a 6 mil or heavier plastic, I prefer 15 mil. Tape the joints with the correct tape not duct tape.
Cover with a small aggreate base. I would roll it in with a roller to compact it.
I have also added portland to the top of the base and added water which will make a stiffer crust.
Hope this helps.
