My mini split drain overflowed yet again, this time due to a slug that climbed up the hose. Is there something better than just ***** hose over the end?
It's a flexible hose resting on the ground. I could cut it back to keep it off the ground if that's enough

It shouldn't touch the ground. Cut it back. If you're worried about trying to protect the outlet from debris intrusion, run it vertically into a piece of 3/4" PVC, then put a 90° ell on the bottom and then a stub about a foot or so. Mine is done like that and the PVC runs all the way across the foundation to channel the condensate away from a plant bed. Never had an issue.

I cut a window screen in circle and dap the fitting edge with some silicone.
It’s usually done on day of install.

It doesn’t really clog or let any thing significant into the pipe.

I have the same problems with my minis splits. I spray the inside wall units with deluted evaporator coil cleaner with a shop vac running at the end of the drain pipe. Do it couple times a summer.

I could not figure out if these were code or not so installed them. I am in FL, which is a swamp so every opening must be protected!! Minis say no P traps, but these are not P traps and designed for minis.

If I was not concerned about code I would cut a piece of screen in a circle, large enough to give years of no worry about clogging and use a clamp to attach it to drain line. I don't use sillycone for almost anything anymore. HTH

I used a 45* on each 3/4" PVC drain line and then stubbed a 4" or so PVC ****** off the 45* and keep it about 14" off the ground. No issues at all.
