Any tips to seal everything up? I got a new door installed but theres still some dust getting in my garage (and on my car ). I've put the home depot bought insulation strips around the outside perimiter and they help but are starting to discolor and deteriorate. I've seen other houses w/ what looks like a 2x3 block w/ a rubber flap on the end that seals to the door. Anyone know what I'm talking about or where to get them or have any other bright ideas?

This is what I'm using now: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

Thx.

I would thing the only way to truely keep dust / bugs out your garage is to pressureize your garage with a blower system like they have at the dept stores.

Or create a perfect seal by painting the doors shut (that is what the seller did with the house we are buying).

You will probably do much better with a good car cover because you're making an assumption that the source of the dust is from the outside. If you seal the daylights out of the garage, you'll still have dust and no doubt humidity and other air quality problems.

That thread title caught my eye, ... "preventing dust . . . IN MY GARAGE." And then I thought, hmmmm, maybe he lives in Texas. Nope.

I'm afraid we are all sentenced to our "primitive" 21st century technologies where dust is still a problem. :)

But I'll keep my eye on this thread, just in case. :)

It's like the Kansas song goes, "Dust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind." I have a major problem in the spring with a large oak tree next to my garage. Everytime my wife or I open the garage, pollen is blowing in. I just have to deal with it.

I've been looking for an alternative to a car cover for a while. I actually tried a flannel sheet but it was way too small, and my car is a bit slick so it slid around. Do they make an oversized sheet that ppl use to just lay on the car? It's a real pain to deal w/ the car cover everytime i need to move the car.

thanks for the tips and sympathy so far!

house is 60 yrs old, i'd assume the garage is just as old (detached). last year I epoxied the floor (store bought at MAB), and painted the cinder wall. much easier to clean the floor now, for sure. still dusty car tho.

love the car bubble :) if only i had more space, haha.

I use a Jet air filtration system in my garage. It works awsome! Even when I am doing woodworking inside of my garage I don't get dust on my cars.

How new is the floor, and has it been sealed or painted? Concrete floors can tend to dust for some period of time after they're installed. http://www.concreteideas.com/concrete/exterior-concrete/what-is-concrete-dusting

The pic that they show looks like a Home Depot or something similar and down a construction aisle. You're going to have dust just from the merchandise, cardboard boxes, and the carts coming in from the lot. :lol_hitti The floors in that pic have been polished anyways by the way it looks. Just bad housekeeping on their part.
