For those who prewire for outdoor Poe cameras through the attic do you run cables and just leave a loop on the end until you are ready to install? Then punch through the soffit later?

Yeah, that is probably the easiest way besides drilling thru the soffit and leave the wire dangling. I know the QSee cameras I helped install required a 3/4"-1" hole due to the connector size, so fishing the cable out with a stiff wire should not be an issue.

LeGard has some new tools and ends for Cat 5 and 6. They make a tool that seats and cuts all 8 wires at one time in their ends. It was about $35 as I remember. Very handy the cat 5 ends for it were 25 or so for 10 and the Cat 6 were $55 for 10. I used the Cat 6 wire but just the Cat 5 ends, as I did not think the extra shielding of the new Cat 6 ends was worth the extra. I just got through running new main lines and moving routers and switches to various media centers in parts of the house. If you still have the walls open, run extra conduit to each room with stubs in basement or attic because someone wil want a TV/computer/rounter/camera in a place you never dreamed off.
