Mostly just a rant but why such a huge price jump from 15-23" r13 insulation. More than 2x the price for 50% more insulation? Menards current sale price that ends today is 6.99 a roll for 15" and 14.99 for 23"

I'd guess they don't sell as much of the thicker stuff so they pass on the extra cost of storing it to you... Use two rolls of the thinner?

Is the regular price listed? I feel like the last time I checked the 24" stuff was just a bit cheaper on a per square foot basis than the 16". Internet connection is too unstable to bother looking it up.

OP is talking about width, not thickness. So batts for 16" and 24" spacing.

Menards probably uses the 15" insulation as a loss leader to get you into the store. It is often featured in their weekly flyer.

I don't see much profit in selling a roll at less than $7.00.

when I framed & insulated my basement walls a few years ago, the price differential on 24" insulation was so great that it was cheaper to frame & insulate 16"oc . ( not counting labour)

Did you happen to check the square footage price on the two? Often the two widths may be sold in different length rolls or batts so the price per package could be tricking you. Just a thought.

Same length rolls. $.16 vs $.37 per sq ft. Prices are back up to $8.65 and $23.25. Probably going to buy 15 and rip some in half to make the 23.
