I'm going to check on this Crafstman bench top drill press in a bit. The seller is asking 50 bucks. It is of unknown vintage but I'm sure someone here will know that by looking at the pictures. If you can shed some light on it and steer me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. If it all checks out ok, is $50 an ok deal?

I wouldn't say it's a screaming deal. My guess on fintave would be about late 80's early 90's. It's a very well made tool and for $50 bucks is still a WAY better unit than you'd get new at HF.

Check it out, if the spindle doesn't have any noticable run out (depending on what you're going to do with it) and the motor sounds good. I'd say it's worth every bit of $50.

Good luck!

The paint is gone enough that there is widespread rust, and this was a low-end drill press when new. $50 seems pretty steep.

I'd put $50 at a top price for it, try for $30-$40. You might do better finding a similar Delta of the same age. With only 5 speeds, it won't be slow enough to be able to do heavy metal work with it. But it should be fine for most shop work around the house.

That is a VERY small DP... 10" means you have 5" from the center of the spindle to the column. most std DP's are 15 or bigger...

leaving make and COO out of it (I suspect Asian born and bred), If it fits your needs at that size, great, but I would walk unless its for a small space and small parts... (It also only has 5 speeds....)
