So I’m wanting a larger box for the shop. Ran across this one locally. I bought one just like it for home 12 years ago for $2100 and it has the butcher block top.

The one below is listed for $2000.00. I’m thinking this is a decent deal. Thoughts?

Those are very nice boxes. $2,000 sounds fair, but really it depends on where you are. Those KRL series boxes are built like tanks.

I guess it depends where you're located, but that would never sell where I am given the price / condition. There are a lot of listings here, many of which have been constantly renewed for months on end. But well-priced Snap On boxes move quickly.

So what would this go for in your area?

You never know if it decent deal until take a good look at it and test/inspect .
Good chance can haggle a deal if it good enough .
Price really comes down to condition and you only truly know the finer details of condition once go see it ...

I bought the same box about a year and a half ago for around $1500 off ebay. A few of the drawers are really sticky, I am hoping if I keep lubing them the will eventually work free. I actually kinda regret the purchase because the top drawer is not deep enough for my 1/2 drive deep sockets to stand up. I think I would have been better off buying a new ICON box. Unfortunately, I have a thing for Snappy boxes and I have at least a dozen of them.

For $2000 I was expecting it to be in better condition. And it looks like it may be one of the earlier versions with less drawers.

I guess there's lots of regional variation. I would be ALL OVER that box at $2K, unless it turns out that the casters are destroyed, or the drawers don't open.

The idea that they're for sale at ~$1500 makes me salivate.

I would guess the ones that actually sell would be $2,000 in mint condition. $1,500 would be tough if it's worn / rusty at all.
Mine has no rust. As i said, a few of the drawers are stiff, oh and some of the drawer slide retainers are broke, but it's a great box.

The 1003 is a tank and it's what I use. Condition on that one is less than cherry but $2k is not a bad price for a 72" cab. Assuming you can live with orange because it's not as pretty as red.

Somewhere in fantasy land, there's guys buying triple bank epiqs for 2-3k. That seems to be the common theme on the internet anyway.

Haven't had the chance to visit there yet myself.

IF (big IF) there were a KRL1003 for sale, it'd be 4K+ around here...and it would NOT be "mint condition". I bought a used KR1000 in '88-ish for $2K, and money was more valuable back then.

But the bigger problem is that there just aren't any bigger boxes available. There may be some of the Snappy 7-drawer "student" boxes from kids who couldn't hack Trade School, or who graduated and found out you can't keep everything you need in a lil' tiny 7-drawer box.

Guys around here want 2k for used KRSC carts. LOL

I'd consider that a good price for the box assuming it's functional and any rust is superficial.

my $0.02

if its in good shape (rust, dents, slide action, etc.) i think its worth up to $2000.

hard to tell from the photo but the bottom edge looks like rust that comes from being in a damp environment OR kept outside for some amount of time. if after looking at it closely in person i felt like it had been kept outside and there was edge rust inside and out, I'd walk away.

You indeed can see fair few blemishes in 1 photo so in real life viewing it will be worse.
If it not rust and not too bad and drawer slides not shot it still worth sensible coin .
My first thoughts is it like 1500 bucks box if slides and wheels good and you looking for a sturdy 3 bay work box and like the drawer layout, the orange is washy looking color, it not above average tidy and by times you clean it up, buy and fit drawer liner/top mat or work surface of some sort you will be into it few hundred more and wouldn't want major issues of slides or wheels to deal with even if possibly get some of it free from snappy .
The reality is you don't know a true price until see it and if still interested negotiate a price .
You don't sell boxes that quickly or hassle free unless they proper tidy or sensible negotiated final selling price ...
