Do waterbased vs solvent based epoxy primers have one advantage over each other?I heard good things about both but wanted the primer that will give me best bond to prepped concrete and the epoxy going over it.On top of that can you put a epoxy with solvent in it over the waterbased primer? Or does it have to be 100 % solids? I wasn't sure if the solvents would not allow for a chemical bond between the two or ruin the primer. Thanks for any input.

Solvent based epoxy primers are getting harder to find for the average DIY applicator. You also have VOC issues to worry about. With the quality and low VOC's of water based primers these days, you really can't go wrong. I never had a floor fail due to a water based primer. It's all in the prep.

No worries about about applying solvent based product over water based and vice versa. Solvent base polyurethanes are applied over water based and 100% solids epoxy on a regular basis. If mixing brands, always check with the manufacturer for compatibility issues.
