On clearance at my Princess Auto for $9.93. 32 pieces! Cheap set to put in a secondary toolbox or lend out, with PA's stellar return/warranty policies, well worth it IMO.

Sockets are engraved and stamped, but have a painted finish on them instead of a black oxide finish. And they are made of chrome vanadium instead of chrome molybdenum, which means you shouldn't really hammer these to death. Comes with a noice blow-molded case as well!

The 40 piece 1/2" drive set for $34 online is also a great deal IMO.

Again, watch out when hammering on these for extended periods. Walls are decently thin unlike the Mastercraft Maximum sockets.

Been using the 1/2 drive set for a few years now, never broke one, worth the price

maybe the newer ones are thinner?

I don't think they've changed, just that the walls are thinner than the Mastercraft equivalents, makes them less clumsy, but that's probably because they are CrVa instead of CrMo.
