I would buy a hockey puck and make a groove

I've actually done that for my floor jack and it works well, but the puck sits nicely in the cup on the floor jack. With the part of the bottle jack that contacts the puck being much smaller than the puck, I'd be concerned about it staying in place.

I've been watching princess auto clear out a lot of their Pro.Point or Titan hand-tools. Seems they also cleared out alot of Vessel screwdrivers in late 2015 and early 2016 (I missed that). Now most of those brands have been largely replaced by Powerfist (step down in Princess Auto in-house brand). They've also brought in GRIP or other brands to complement Powerfirst.

Pro-Point is their upscale mostly Taiwan made brand that has enjoyed huge success. I have spoken to a few of their managers who shared that information and indicated that they will continue to roll out additional products under the Pro-Point banner. They recognized that too many of the serious users were underwhelmed by the price point Powerfist products and hence created Pro-Point.

The significant price discounts on both Pro-Point (and Titan to a lesser strategic degree) are part of their scheduled "sales" model and are designed to achieve some critical mass (specifically for Pro-Point) in the interests of further bolstering the significant quality of Pro-Point. They are building a following for the Pro-Point line which has better margins than Powerfist. Crappy Tire as we all know employs (to an even larger degree) the rotating deep discounts on both the Maximum and Mastercraft products. Could you ever imagine paying full price for the orange handled 4-piece Mastercraft plier set :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Vessel was an experiment which was very short lived. I was excited to see the line displayed but was too late to benefit from the clearance sale.

Nothing in PA stays the same. Every trip in is a treasure hunt. When Adjustable Clamp, Pony brand, shut down their North American production, PA had some good deals on their F-clamps. I've gotten some made in Canada Fuller Robertson screwdrivers lately. That might be the last time you'll be able to find good Canadian made Robertsons with Rona/Lowes selling Craftsman garbage.

That's an interesting idea, would epoxy work?

I would worry that anything inflexible, like most epoxies, would crack free when lifted with a hoist or jack. I was thinking a deep countersunk flat head (or counterbored socket screw) to allow slight compression screwed to the jack point.

Bondhus T-Handle sets are on sale for 25% off, $44.99 per set. Its been a while since I've been in Princess Auto and I didn't even realize they carried Bondhus. I grabbed the last metric set on the shelf in my local store this morning.

I can't speak to that one, I have 3 of these from CDN Tire
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-pvc-air-hose-and-reel-50-ft-0588395p.html#srp

They regularly come on special in the $70 to $90 (when I got mine 5 years ago, they were $59.99 on special, but don't see them that low anymore) range and have been using them for 5 years; 2 in a heated garage and one in an unheated shed, a bit stiff in freezing cold but overall good. Would they hold up to commercial use, maybe, but not likely. For a homeowner/DIYer, I think they are good.

I mention all this because PA & CT could be OEM'ing them from the same place.

I see the ProPoint is rubber versus the Mastercarft is PVC. I have bought many items from PA and very satisfied with many of their tools, some duds, but most stuff is decent to very good. Personally, for my needs, I would not pay the $120 versus the $70-$90 for the Mastercraft, especially if I was looking to get more than 1, the price difference adds up.

Not to down play the PP, I would guess you would probably be satisfied with the PP if you get it as most of their PP labeled items are quite good

I hope this helps.

I have 2 of these canadiantire reels, mine have issues. I have to look and see why they are restricting air. Seriously affects ability to do work with the air hammer and impacts.

I don't know if I have air restriction issues, 1) because I put the high flow connections...Milton "M" or "V"?, 2) then the more important reason is my compressor is not very big, tops out at 6.5 cfm @ 90 psi, so I do not use anything like sanders or die grinders. So the reels could be restricting air, but I wouldn't notice it because of what I use it for, impact wrench and other lower volume tools.

I have the non retractable CT one

You can always change the hose on all of them to hybrid hose

Most of the will have the restriction happening in the swivel connector

Mine broke so I had to turn and make my own swivel connector on the my lathe

The connector usually allows a quarter inch hole that doesn’t line up all the time with the outlet only twice per revolution

They get rid of the nut and bolt bins in your guys areas like they have here? They used to have the bins kind of like Bulk Barn you pick and write the SKUs and qty if each you buy. Now all the nuts and bolts are pre-bagged in 5packs or something and price is outrageous.

What’s the new best place to get singles if needed for nuts and bolts?

the nut & bolt bins are gone. my buddy that works there said there was a lot of theft, a lot of labour to sort & a lot of mixed up stuff they had to discount.
so now all they have to deal with is theft of 1 or 2 packages here & there I guess.

Makes sense. Not sure how many times I’d grab a handful of a certain type of nut. Get home and realize 2-3 are the ones I needed rest are that someone just threw in there.

So where do you guys buy your nuts and bolts when you need like singles etc. I find home Hardware and Home Depot are overpriced.

I get my fasteners at Brafasco https://brafasco.com/ there's one on my way home from work. (Of course, I haven't been to work since mid March...) They have more "exotic" fasteners than Princess Auto had, metric stuff, allen head etc.

I find the odd ball fasteners, a search. Check stores with fasteners in their name, they sometimes have what will work . For a couple of easy ones , a hardware store . For a number of easy ones, Fastenal. But that's a $20 minimum

I bought the lumber racks for my sister in law. They are a little smaller than they appear (at least to me), you'd probably want 2 sets.

That's what I did.

With 2 sets you have 4 of them which I spread out over a 7ft are. Easily supports 8-10 ft lumber without sagging in the middle and I use the lower 2 for shorter 3-4 ft pieces on each end.

They work good and do the job...depending on what your expectations are.

I ordered one of those 1//2 drive long flex ratchets. I don't see me using it much, so $45 delivered seemed like a OK price. I likely saved a hundred by not buying in person, chuckle. Thanks for the heads up jptbay.

I received it today. Still haven't received the E-mail order confirmation !

The click flex will hold a 10" extension but not with a heavy socket. Overall though, it's a good, but not great tool, easily worth it's price. The action is smooth, and certainly fine enough for a 1/2" ratchet.

Nice buy Cobbler.:rocker:
I borrow my buddies. Seems he always has a tool of mine so I don’t feel too bad. Last time I bought one of his supposedly surplus, not needed anymore tools. He borrowed it from me when he needed it. :lol_hitt

Well I didn't really need it, I have a 10" overhead saw plus a cheapo table type. I will get rid of the cheapo table unit & replace it with this. it does have some limitations that the overhead saw doesn't have, but this is a good fit for the next 3 tile jobs I have lined up. the overhead saw is heavy and cumbersome .
I was fooling with it yesterday & it does really nice rips .
It is a bit misleading in that it says you can rip up to 18" tiles, which is sort of true, but you can only get 9" to the fence . a play on numbers ....

I needed new long ram jack for my 32 year old engine lift. They have this air over hydraulic on clearance for $79, when they finally dug one out of the warehouse it was tagged $50. Check your local store for pricing, it wont be more than $79.
