I had just finished typing out a long PM reply to another member and when I hit the submit button I got a vBulletin message saying ...

"token expired - click the back button and reload the page"

Well whatever I did, all I could get was the previous draft of my reply or the same message again - What am I doing wrong? .... :willy_nil :dunno: :)

BTW - how long do we get before the "token" expires?

Haven't had this with PMs but I don't do many. Even if you check the "Remember Me?" box when you log in, you will sometimes be automatically logged out with no notice. Then when you try to post something, you lose it.

I keep one extra tab open for like the first page of Today's Posts or similar. Use dupe tab(s) to do everything else. BEFORE I post something, I go do something else on another GJ tab to make sure I'm still logged in. Otherwise I copy my message before posting.

You must be a slow at typing like me.

By the time I finish "one finger" typing a message or post I have "timed out":D

What I do now is , open a "new message" on my email and write it up.
Then copy and paste it onto the forum or PM

Either that, or I use too many words ....

The other thing that may not have helped was half way through my reply I had to go out for a few hours, so I put the computer on "standby".

When I came back and took the computer off standby, I was able to continue for a while before running into trouble.

BTW - thanks for the help guys ....

Best to use notepad (Windows users) if writing a lengthy response, even for emails.
This way you can save it, look it over, and then do a copy and paste.

Yes, I think that might be a way to go - thanks! ....

But I'm also curious as to how to renew this "token" thingy.
