Hey Guys...
Its time to upgrade my scan tool so i thought i'd see if i could wrangle some real world opinions from guys in the field.

Currently i'm using a defective OTC Genisys that i bought new in '07. the smart cable went goofy and its gonna cost as much to repair and upgrade as to just buy a new unit.

The majority of the cars we see are Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, and Toyota with the occasional Dodge, or Nissan, and rarely a Mazda or Suzuki. I have a few customers with VW/Audi BMW, MBZ but we stick mostly to the mechanical stuff, and i sublet to a german specialist who sends me all his japanese/american.

My Genisys has been pretty good for what it is but i know i could be doing more with more horsepower at the diagnostic port.

i think the most influential factors in my purchase decision is coverage out of the box and upgrade expense.

so what are you guys using, and what do you like and why?

Autel. I own the maxidas 503 and it has been a great scanner. Bought it to replace my mac/ otc genniss night and day better. "Road testing" and autel maxisys pro right now and love it. For the price no other scanner compairs in my opinion.

funny, until earlier this week, i'd never even heard of autel, but the more i look, the more i'm looking. my buddy owns a top notch porsche shop and he was the one who made a recommendation to look at them. people do seem to like them.
