I'm new to the boards. I'm expanding my garage with the idea of adding a four post lift. Hmmm... Seems like I've seen a few other posts here with people doing the same thing. I need a little help. Based upon discussions I have seen here and elsewhere, I had pretty much decided to buy a Pro Park 8S. The two prominent dealers for this brand appear to be Greg Smith Equipment and Derek Weaver Company.
I've seen discussions regarding lift certifications. I noticed that Derek Weaver very prominently lists ANSI and ETL certifications. I don't see any listed on Greg Smith's website. I then started comparing the specs for both lifts and noted some minor differences in specs as well. For example, GS lists the column height at 83. DW lists it as 84. There are differences in the length of the runways and approach ramps as well. Both make the same error in published width of the runways. They both list this as 21.5 inches (1 ft 6-1/2 in) of course this really means 18.5 inches.
Greg Smith has a location closer to my home in NJ. So I assume that freight would be significantly lower. But are these the same lifts. If not, what else is different?
Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
