Wanting to either install Pro Rib or Dura Panel on the ceiling of a patio overhang.
I used the pro rib for the roof and really liked it. So I’m thinking about doing it on the ceiling now. 2 questions
1. Is there an advantage to using the Dura Panels or the Pro Rib for the ceiling. At the Menards by me, they are within $100 of each other. So I’m willing to purchase either one if there is a difference that someone with knowledge may suggest.
The ceiling is 2x8’s 16” center. I would like to run the sheets parrallel to the joists, which leaves the overlaps just hanging in the joist cavity and not on a joist. Can I install this way or does it have to be ran perpendicular? I seen the installation paperwork and it says to run perpendicular, but just wondering if someone has done it. I’m not thinking it will sag off?
I think it would look a lot nicer when finished if I ran them up and down, that is why I’m trying to do it. Otherwise the ribs will be running horizontally when you look up at the ceiling.
Let me know what you think. I also do not want to run 1x’s the opposite direction. If that’s what needs to be done then I will just run the sheets perpendicular like they suggest.
As always thanks for your guys input!
