Probably don’t need to but easy to start. Sharpen or replace blades annually, fresh gas 93 octane. Always busy with home and vehicle maintenance as well. Who needs a vacation;).
Why 93 octane in an engine with perhaps a 6:1 compression ratio??

What about storage space? I sold my rider for this reason. Mine was taking up too much room in my shed and I still needed my walk behind for mowing around obstructions and close to my fence. I hired out for a year but was unhappy with the job done and their giant mowers twice damaged things here.
Been using my elderly Toro walk behind since so mowing time and effort are a bit more now an extra 20 minutes or so for my 1/4+ acre. Zero turns are always on my mind, especially this time of year when I'm mowing every three or four days but price and the room it must occupy always convince me not to.
That said if a screaming deal were to present itself I'd probably bite but keep that trusty old walk behind just in case I chaneg my mind.

After owning two JDs with Kawasaki I wouldn't buy another mower that didn't have a Kawasaki.

Thanks for all the good advice on this thread. I made a decision that I just could not justify the price of a commercial mower. I bought a used Deere x350 for $2k. So far it is perfect for my yard. If it craps out I'll come back to the pro-level mowers, maybe they will have come down in price some by then.

Take care of that mower, and you will be running it for years.
I have the older model of the same tractor (X300.)
I'm on 17 years with it, and it is still going strong.
Cheapest bits on that tractor are the hoods, seat cushions, and the K-46 transmission.
The latter is not an issue as long as you use it within its means.
