I was looking around at a flea market this past weekend and came across a guy with alot of pro grade tools(snap on, mac, matco, cornwell, etc.) and found a full set of SAE Mac knuckle saver wrenches, a Mac 3/8" long flex head ratchet, a matco 3/8" long flex head ratchet, and several other articles that struck my intrest. Note these tools have been used and its easy to tell it. He wants $125 for the wrenches and $50 each for the ratchets. Should I try to lowball the hell outta this guy? As I stated before, thesed tools are used, and a few years old. I don't think there worth the prices he's asking.

if you dont think they are worth what he's asking, make a reasonable offer, with cash in hand.
be prepared to walk away empty handed.

i've made offers on stuff @ flea mkts, and usually walk away with all my cash in my pocket.
"it has a lifetime warranty" or " they go for $***.** on ebay" is the usual response from the seller,
every once in a while i get a "f*ck you" from the seller.
6 months later the guy still has the same stuff, for the same price, and is bitching to everyone within earshot about how he cant sell anything !!

we had a couple of garage sales last spring, everything was priced at "garage sale" levels. we had several people make reasonableoffers on stuff, i'd rather take a little less, than be stuck dealing with this ****.
some people dont see it this way....

craigslist is the same way. If a tool is reasonably priced, it's gone within hours. You'll see some overpriced stuff come up on top of the list every few days for months. The seller is stubborn/stupid.

If I see the same item three times, I filter to see if he's overposting and has it up multiple times on multiple categories. If so, that's a flagging offense. For whatever reason, craigslist seems to be rather lax in the enforcement of their own rules in that area.

The flea market I go to has two vendors that sell professional grade tools, I.E. Snap on Matco etc... They typically want Ebay prices, give or take a little, and they won't budge much. Both want too much for ratchets...$40.00 for beat up 3/8" drive.

What's interesting though, is one of them, for example, prices his wrenches a lot higher than the other guy but prices his sockets much lower than the other guy. Both of these vendors have been at the same spot for years and I've seen the same 11mm Matco wrench with the name "Randy" on it for at least three years.

1 flea I visit, has a guy who sells mostly CMan and old Snappy stuff. He had a Snappy pry bar 36", the handle was beaten to hell. I asked how much, figured he'd say $20-30. The SOB wanted $125, told that ******* where to stick his pry bar. This is a flea market not ebay or a tool truck. I had my dad with me and he know's how I love Snap On tool. He says so "how much is it new?", I told him like $100.
Same flea another vendor had a milk crate with a Proto 3/4 rat and a dozen or so Proto sockets wanted $700.

yeah DanCo, I'd of told him where he could of stuck his prybar and his proto ratchet, thats ridiculous. I thought about offering the guy like $150 for the wrenches and the two ratchets and maybe a couple sets of sockets. I'm kinda skethy about the wrenches though because I dont use alot of standard stuff, I work on Chrysler's up at the local "Recall Center" and 99.999% of it is metric. I may go offer him a price and if he takes he takes if not then oh well, he'll hold onto those tools for a while.
