Can I put a switch on the opposite side of the same stud a panel is hung? Or should I move it over in the cavity to the next stud?

And do water lines in the same stud cavity matter?

Thanks,

If you want to put the switch there add a scrap 2 X 4 first to space it away from the panel a little for wall plate clearance, and so you won't have to put such a tiny strip of drywall there.

Kind of an obvious answer, now that you point it out. :)
Thanks!!
