This makes no sense. Someone else said about buying tools. I said probably done buying and I never said I was getting rid of them. Guys ***** and act like I'm jumping to conclusions mean time most of the people posting did the same thing.:bounce:

I was joking... I thought it was obvious...

Not to sound like a COO Nazi, but Milwaukee is owned by a Hong Kong co. and make their tools in China. DeWalt is an American co. and makes a lot of their stuff here.

To me COO matters. I like to put my $$ where my mouth is.

I avoided anything Milwaukee after they were brought out by TCI,
why pay more for a Milwaukee drill when its made by the same company that
makes Ryobi, Ridgid for Home Depot?

Just because they make ryobi and rigid doesn't mean it's the same. I own Milwaukee and ryobi. Ryobi isn't close to being the same

This thread [emoji23]

I will say that I love my 2890. If it died, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat (if I couldn't fix it [emoji6])

I got a brand new M18 radio for free. NO ********. During the holidays Acme Tool was selling an M18 radio along with a 5.0 battery and charger for $99. Since the battery alone goes for $150 at the Home Depot I would consider this deal the same as getting a free radio. I like the radio. Have it on my patio so I can listen to tunes while I read "Motor Age."

OH, I FORGOT. And I got all of this with free shipping. Denny scores!!!!

It's TTI, and u do realize they are all completely different tools, not just different clamshells around them.. Ford owned Lamborghini for a while. That's like calling a Lamborghini a rebadged Taurus.

Yep... Buddy of mine works for an auto manufacturing company. They have several different product lines within the same plant, and make parts for a variety of brands ranging from Toyota and Ford to Lexus and Tesla. They ship to suppliers for all of their products, except for Tesla whom they ship directly to. He always speaks of the quality control differences when it comes to budget brands vs premium brands.

Can't comment on how much this applies to Rigid/Ryobi vs Milwaukee, but I can assure you that it's not accurate to say they are the same thing because they are owned by the same company or made in the same place.

I will just add to this back in the day when I was lead supervisor for a package build and final finish electronic assembly department we had varying levels of quaiity controls on the products. Virtually it was all customer specified beyond our standard in house or external part supplier inspection requirements and was all price dependent. Did Mil spec too. If you wanted cheap you got cheap, solder joints passed a minimal inspection points generally only looking for simple stuff like an obvious cold solder joint or bad cut in certain wire connection plus the operators were bare bones certified. Conversely other line products had serious protocols to be followed often specified from the buyer. Components had pass additional life tests for shock, temperature etc. Scope magnification inspections searching the tiniest flaws in soldering were often required, and assembly operators had to have additional training qualifications where only certified operators where allowed to work certain orders and often all test documentation was to supplied with those orders when requested including percentage test pass failure ratios for individual sub component.

True, but it wouldn't be far off to call certain age Jaguars a rebadged Taurus back when Ford owned them.

On a similar note, I worked in a food production facility for awhile and the only thing different between the premium product and the cheap product was the bag. Literally.

Heck, the Ford parts would probably improve the Jaguar at least back then anyway.

$99 for those is a good deal. However, the 5.0 batt is around $65 on ebay all the time so $35 for the radio would still be awesome.
I compare stuff to prices at Home Depot alot but certain things Id never purchase there.

When I go to winghouse I order wings.

Longhorn I order steak.

Kentucky fried chicken I order chicken.

If I buy something from Milwaukee I buy a tool.

if you want to buy a radio check Sony out.

I'm either really profound or fricking hungry.
