My wife and I have been planning to pick up bunk beds for my sons bedroom from a woman she works with for a couple of months. We finally had a chance to get them yesterday and that's where the magic happened.

I saw this little gem on the workbench of the woman's husband my wife works with and I had to ask if it was for sale. She told him to come out to the garage to talk. My dream was crushed when he said he wasn't interested in selling it since he used it often. I told him to keep me in mind if he ever changed his mind and I proceeded to load the beds into my buddy's truck.

Once I loaded the last section of bed I saw him walking towards me with the vise in his hand. He said "take it", and I immediately pulled cash out of my pocket and he said "no, I don't want anything for it." After about four rounds of going back and forth with me trying to put $50 in his hands and him flat out refusing it I took the little guy from his hands and I am currently the owner of the coveted baby bullet. I told him I would NEVER sell it. Yesterday was a good day!!!!

Nice vise. You ****. :) Also kudos for letting him know you'll never sell it. I love the color -- very 1950's color.

Well, it's totally unsafe with that missing end cap.

If you send it to me, I'll dispose of it properly so you don't have to worry about anyone getting seriously maimed or killed.

It's nice to hear stories of generosity once in awhile when greed is so pervasive. You're a lucky guy and he's a very nice man. Oh, and nice vise.

You've just made a Life-long friend . . .maybe even a "Step Grandma/Grandpa" for your kids . . .
. . .
. . . . . . PLUS . . . . the massive suckage of sweet baby bullet Wilton !!

Given the history of how you got it, I'm thinking it should STAY AS IS . . .
. . . . like for a couple decades. You know . . . .
. . . . telling your kids . . . . Remember the day that nice old man gave me this !!! :rocker:

Wait to restore it until MUCH later . . . . like when your kids are older to help in process.

I told my wife the same exact thing. It will definitely be an heirloom to hand down to my son.

Good to hear. Always lovely with items like that. It's always nice to have something you've wanted for a while, but they're always more special when there's some generosity, kindness or thought behind them like there was with this one, IMHO.

Nice find. Maybe a gift card or a nice cooked delivered meal or something is in order...I hate when people insist on taking nothing for something. I like to at least trade something.

Now you're just ******* me off. A (2) Wilton year?

Great find buddy.

Thanks.

Don't want to kick you in the bean bag too hard Randy, but I just picked up an original owner 1982 Toyota pickup 4x4 for $700 a few weeks back. I think my luck cup is empty for now.
