Problem with my 75/25

I haven't welded in a while so the tank has set about half full for a couple of months. I seem to be having an issue where it looks like the shielding gas is burning.

Basically what happens is it will weld for about 5-6 seconds just fine, then the gas will turn a bluish-green through the visor and the wire will just burn off - but no weld. I tried purging the line for a few minutes, but still no dice.

So... what happened? I'm totally confused.

Have you confirmed that gas is actually coming out of the gun for more than a few seconds? In the past I have forgotten to turn on the gas and/or not had the pressure property adjusted and/or had the supply hose come loose from the back of the machine. Others have not had the gun hose fully inserted into the machine.

The knob on the control for the wire speed was "adjusted" to read wrong. It was about 30 off.

Must be the wasps retaliating as those are the only creatures that have been in that part of the garage since I had last welded.
