Problem with my Snap On KRL (locking mechanism)

I've had my KRL 1022A for about 4 or 5 months now. Well, I tried to lock my box tonight after work, and none of the drawers on the right hand bank would lock at all.

The 2 big top drawers as well as the entire left bank all DO LOCK. I took 1 small drawer off of each bank. I see 3 vertical locks. The one on the far left moves up and down as I turn the key but the one in the middle as well as the one on the right don't move at all. I didn't have anyone around to help pull the 2 top drawers so I don't know what is going on up there.

Any ideas? I can't get my dealer to answer his cell so maybe he can help tomorrow.

it'll be jammign up the top, make sure th edrawers fully closed, if it is then the hook thingy will be bent a bit, straighten it. take the drawer sout.

Its quite common.

Yeah, I know for sure they were all closing. The lock and roll engaged on all of the drawers. I'll see if I can get someone to help me get the top 2 drawers out at the end of the day. Thanks!

Inside the back of the box are the lock bars that slide up and down in their channels as you turn the key. They have square slots in them that engage the hooks on the back of each drawer. There's a linkage arm that goes from the tumbler to the lock bars in the back; make sure that linkage arm is attached to the lock bar.

Your gonna have to pull several of the wide drawers out to see what's going on. There's a lever on each slide that you pull up or down on depending on whether it's the left or right slide to disengage the slides. On those two top wide drawers, you'll need someone to hold the other end of the drawer while disengaging to slides.

Thanks Merk. I did see the sliding channels when I looked earlier. What is the typical layout for the linkage bar? Does it usually just go to one side or does it split somewhere? I know for a fact that the sliding channel on the left DOES move and the 2 on the right DON'T.

Just trying to get an idea of what I'm going to be dealing with after work tomorrow. Thanks again guys.

It should go inside across the very top of the box from the tumbler to the lock bar. Once you get a drawer out of your way to see what's going on, the mechanical action will tell you a story about itself.

every time my box will not lock it is because of something fell out the back of the drawer, like paper or wires, check there first

Thanks for all of the replies! I got it fixed. I only had to lube the 2 sliding channels on the right and it works perfect again.
