Problem with Racedeck moving around. Help>>

Well I did my research and installed a 16ft by 18ft Racedeck floor.
Used standard 12x12 Diamond tiles on a flat, painted and level concrete floor.
There is a slight slope, 3ft before the door.
When I drove my front wheel drive VW into the garage, the whole 16x18 floor moved forwards towards the door by a good 2 inches.Obviously the front driving wheels were grabbing the tile surface and moving it.
Suggestions would be appreciated. Racedeck suggested rubber underlay as used to keep carpets from moving around on hardwood floors. They did not like my idea of construction adhesive on the first row.
Both cars that will use garage are VWs.
Bit disappointed after 4 hours of installing.

I take it there is nothing around the perimeter like shelves or cabinets that can weight it down to keep it from moving. As in, is it just the flooring with nothing else on top of it over than the car?

Yes.......basically it's a 16x18 floating pad. Built in cabinets down one side and
large metal lathe etc on the other. No way I will move the machinery.

Well I have split it in half so I can man handle it back into position but not going to do anything until consultation with the engineers at RD.
I like the idea of anchoring the end opposite the door. It can still expand and contract in 3 directions, but held firmly on this one end. This would be the same as having a heavy tool box and a heavy floor jack sitting on one end of the floor. Not much expansion or contraction will take place with that weight concentrated in one area and surely that must be similar to anchoring this one end to the wall.

This is really weird. Can you post pics? This might help people to give you a better suggestion in how to fix it.

I don't know how a photo would help but have included two.
Shot of garage door showing slope up to threshold.
and shot of floor.

Ever heard that a picture is worth a thousand words? :dunno:

Do you have the threshold piece going right across? It seems from the one inside pic you posted that your missing a piece.

I think this is due to the huge incline from the street to your garage floor level. Your car is having to pull itself into the space.

The "backing in" suggestion may work since your golf is powered with the front wheels.

.

I had them on but removed temporally so as to aid moving the 16x18 piece back into position. ( That was fun )
Definitely the incline is causing the problem.
I want to avoid backing in if possible. Age related neck problem.

I am probably creating a concern where none exists but it would not be the first time.

My concern is that if you anchor at the distant end than each time you pull into the garage with your front drive car on the incline, it is tugging at all the interlocks of the tiles and may over time loosen them up?

Clearly it is a question for RD.

drive fast into garage and slam on the Brakes to reset the tiles every 3 days

sorry I am interested to know if anything can be done as well
i would think use silicone to make certain end tiles stick would do the trick
and it can be removed if needed

Sorry you are having initial issues with your racedeck install. From the pictures it appears you have a steep ramp up to your garage and your car is front wheel drive. I would also guess that once your front wheels are up on the floor you then accelerate to pull the rest of the car up, causing the RD floor to slide on the smooth painted surface. We do have remedies for this. I am overseas right now but you can call our office and we can get you set so you have no issue. Be sure to show these pictures, it does tell the story of what is happening.

Thanks for choosing RaceDeck

RD have been most helpful in giving me two options to try.
One of my boxes of tiles got lost in shipping so there is nothing I can do until they arrive and I will update this thread later.

Update:

Working with RD, who have been very supportive, I have done the following.
Two strips of very thin rubber,as used to line kitchen shelves, were set where the front wheels hit the floor when driving in to the garage. This helped but even with careful driving, the 'pad' moved.
Then I drilled 16 holes in the concrete floor at the back of the garage to firmly anchor the pad from moving forward. I have not seen any heat expansion problems and have had the garage temp go from 80 to 50. I will give it a week before concluding a fix or not.
