Problems with garage door opening

Hi all.
With the opener "emergency cord" pulled, I can lift my garage door by hand. However, when I attempt to use the opener, the door will open only 1/4 of the way. It seems like the door opener is pulling the door back, instead of up, pulling the side track inward. The door has quick-turn top hinges.
I will sure appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.

I have a Genie and you can go thru a reset routine once door pull cord is pulled snd then set the travel. I do not have the routine memorized. Manufacturer probably has it on line.

D and diesel,
Thank you very much for your help. I figured out what was going on.
I replaced the springs, hinges, pullies and rollers. Most were more than 20 years old. Very noisy.
After doing so, I thought I could use the opener to lift the door, so I could install the cable pullies and attach the cables to the rails.
However, instead of lifting the door straight up (like the cables do, using the tension springs), without the cable/spring assist, the opener pulls the door toward itself, pulling the roller channel inward, enough to stop the opener when the #2 roller transitioned from the straight to the curved track.
Lifted the door by hand, attached cables and springs, and now works as it should.
Again, thank you.
