Problems with shop light fixtures coming from lowes.

Not sure if somehow I ended up with a bad bunch of light fixtures from lowes; but after the tubes (4 foot tubes) burn out I put in all brand new tubes and the fixture will no longer work.

A new ballast costs as much as a new fixture; has anyone else seen this or did I just get a bad batch from lowes?
Those chinese must be on to something if everytime a tube goes bad I must replace the whole fixture!

They used to come with a fuse that you could replace but these lights only have a ballast and no fuse.

Did the tubes all burn out at once?
If so, it probably isn't the tubes.
If the tubes are bad and you replaced them with the same kind of tubes, they should work.
If you are using the wrong tubes, they may not work.

Not sure if all the tubes went at one time, but I did buy four more of the same exact tube as the first batch and nothing works.

I had the same problem, after about a year of use. 10 fixtures, all from Lowes. i replace the tubes, they may work for a day or a month, or 5 minutes.
Very frustrating, and the one directly over My bike lift is the worst one...

Did lowes have any recall on those 4-foot shop lights that anyone is aware of? strange thing to have to replace the whole fixture each time a tube goes bad?

It might be helpful here if everybody would post up the brand and model of the fixture, and the time purchased. It is quite possible that a bad batch of lights were distributed, but more information would be needed to make that decision.

i think all flourescent lights are duds. But then i'm just an ole grumpy guy.

I buy Lithonia from HD and haven't had any issues over the years. I have also used the Utilitech 4' shop lights from Lowes. Once in a while I get a bad one. For $18, I just toss it and get another.
