looking for a programmable t-stat for my modine hot dawg heater 125k btu in a 1800 sqft shop decent insulation and old windows and drafty doors . summer project swap in better windows and re seal doors .

would like one to program on/off temp NOT on/off times with temp .

i am trying to prevent possible short cycling of the unit .

its a 2 wire setup now . i use it for 50-55* shop temp only and not my main heat source as thats the wood stove .

thanks for any help .

Your Hot Dawgs instruction manual should show you how many thermostat control wires your heater will use, which will mean what programmable TSAT to get IE: 2 wire/4 wire/5 wire... etc. . A on line HD heater diagram for a 45 K BTU unit shows that a one stage unit with fan control takes 4 wires to the TSAT, a two stage unit with fan control takes 5 wires to the TSAT.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Are you saying you just want it to keep a minimum of 55° all the time?
If that's what you need, a standard low temp, heat only stat that will allow setpoint of 55° is all you need.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Honeywell-CT50K-Low-Temperature-Thermostat-CT50K1028/202039852

You could also do a 5 day/2 day or 7 day, 2 period set back stat. I.E. Mon-Fri, Occupied temp & start time, Unocciped temp & start time, Sat-Sun, Occupied temp and start time, Unoccupied temp and start time or 7 day, Occupied temp and start time, Unoccupied temp and start time, but it's hard to find one that allows 55° as the occupied temp.

i want a temp programmable unit unlike most that do times.

i want to control the on/off temp range from the average 2-3 degree swing to say a 5-10degree swing . make the heater run a little longer between cycles .

right now its set at around 50-55* on the slide scale of the cheepy controller .

it runs around 9min on to off for a cycle . i would like to stretch this out if my thinking is correct so i dont short cycle the unit . i have read that short cycling is what kills them faster .

modine hot dawg 125k btu unit . nat gas feed . 1800 sqft show decent insulation but old windows and drafty doors . thats a summer project new windows and door seals . the garage doors are insulated .
