I am in need of a scan tool that can download calibration files from Motorcraft and update control modules to complete TBS.

Local dealers will not program at the customers discretion, particularly since I would be completing solenoid replacement myself.

I have Forscan, but v. 2.4 that has been announced as capable of programming cal files is vaporware. Accordingly, I would most like laptop software that uses an ELM327 connector.

If only it were that simple. A genuine VCM is $1400. Clones are $130 and have generally poor reviews.

If you need to program anything other than the PCM or TCM on a 1996-2018 Ford, you need IDS and a VCM II. It is indeed that simple.

Find an independent shop that’s capable of Ford programming if your dealer won’t help you. They will program want ever you want. Just know if the repair doesn’t turn out the way you planned they won’t feel bad.
