The dream has started. 40 by 52 two story with one bay open to trusses for lift area.

Quite the project. What will the upper level be used for? Where are you located?

Upper level for storage and party room. Located Interior of BC, Canada. My hobby is old cars and truck restoration.

This is just me thinking out loud but I would have used loft or attic trusses to make even more room on the "third" floor... Cheap space like that is hard to come by...

Agreed but snow loads are very high in my location, went with engineering recommendations.

Wow! Talk about a high bay! I love it. This is going to be an awesome set-up. Will you be able to see into the open bay from the rooms above?

Yes one window on wall behind stairs. Two post extra tall hoist in bay, I am 6 ' 5". Bay area is 22 ft from FF to bottom of roof trusses. This will allow two high lift doors, one to outside and one to inside. (10 by 12 shop doors)

This is exactly what I have been pondering doing in the near future- thanks much for posting your new space- it only reinforces how much I thought I would love the concept! I am considering living in mine, though, if I pull the trigger and build it one day. I thought it would be great to have one wall of the living room upstairs be one giant window, with whichever car was on the lift being the work of art to admire for that day when it came time to relax upstairs. Keep the updates coming!

Exterior is 24 gauge metal. I finished and wired the place, buddy insulated it. 100 amp service. Wired for welder, lift, wall fans, in wall speakers in 4 zones. The building is done now but I have no pics to post. I installed the metal ceiling and all sliding walls are done. Made my own high bay lights from old ballast lights and installed LED bulbs, high bay has one ceiling fan and wall fan. One wall fan on second floor mostly to remove day time heat. Once house is built I will have a forced air nat gas furnace with 3 zones. ground floor ceiling height is 12 ft, second floor 8 ft. Peak height is 33 ft, high bay is 22ft. All walls are 1/2 inch plywood white washed.Thanks for comments.
