progress on my inground rotary lift

I tore it apart after removing 40 gallons of hydraulic oil!!! First I needle scaled then sand blasted, metal prep, steam cleaned and painted with por15 today and yesterday. Anyone think I should give it some other topcoat before sinking it? I am waiting for a new seal to reassemble it this week and then on to the superstructure [arms and stuff] Also I am looking for some pipe to make the height lock out of, I need a piece of schedule 80 2" and schedule 40 2-1/2" anyone know where to get that, Menards said forget it.

Is there a piston? Is that the outer sleeve? Not sure how these "non cartridge" types go together.

Check any structural steel supply house for your pipe. If you don't have one nearby, get a local steel fabricator to buy them for you.

Thanks I will check at local manufacturing shop, I know the owner but I hate to bother him over this. Yes it has a piston, it stores the oil inside of it, the small tube feeds the air in above the oil forcing it down and out pushing out the piston, simple and works well and avoids the seperate tank with oil. My piston needs some attenion before it is loaded hoping emerycloth can fix it!

Couldn't help you with sourcing the material, but I'm enjoying the project and pictures.

I got some emery cloth at napa today to polish the piston,I am debating putting some kind of waterproofing on this base like maybe stuff for foundations!!

Oh I also checked with the local case/IH dealer where I know a tech and he said he will save me 50 gallons of hydraulic oil from a new tractor that has a premature change scheduled friday!!! This will save me at least 300 from buying new!! I asked what kind of beer he liked his answer was COLD!!!!

Cool project!Don't forget to filter that free bee oil.
I looked into pricing for a new unit.Between 5 and 7 grand,not installed.

I know FREE sounds Better ,But Look in Veg oil. They use it in Back hoes that dig near / in water
The Legal & Eviromental reasons is worth the extra cost Now.

How is the area the lift goes in "Clean" of oil?
