Progress thread for Tedman's 'Serenity Room'

After a long struggle for space in my attached 2 car I have taken the steps necessary to take back what is rightfully mine as a man.
I plan to transform my garage into what I see as a reflection of me. I have the plan but choose not to share it now. I think it would be a lot more fun posting pics of progress for you to watch it unfold. It is a low budget makeover.... rustic, with an industrial appearance while complimenting my passion for early Porsches. It will be appealing to the eye is all I will tell for now.
I began this weekend by having a new shed/garage delivered Friday to accomodate bikes, yard work items, etc. I made quick work of modding the new shed into a gardening and bicycle work shop. The 12x18 space was more than enough to effeciently organize with room for additional items such as riding mower and snowblower when I'm too old to pushmow and shovel! LOL!

Good start! Have you posted the 'NO DUMPING' sign on the house door leading to the garage? If you're going to reclaim 'man-land', you had better make sure everyone in the house knows and obeys the new law of the land -

Nice looking house with all the peaks in front.

With the bicycles (I counted maybe 12 ??) it's hard for much else to have a foothold. Are there more bikes yet in the other garage, or is that all of them?? Those all for your family??

Thanks for the compliment! Curb appeal was very important to my wife and I and the colors/peaks worked out well. As for the bikes, there's only 5. I think you see my wheel rack hanging from ceiling. Wife and I are both X-MTB racers so extra wheels is a must. Its hard to let go of all the equipment once invested. LOL!!

So now that the garage is mostly empty I have started the prep work for the transformation.
I had 203 holes to patch (at best count and sure I missed some) from nails, hooks, etc of various hangers over 9 years. Also, the HVAC duct going to room above garage was never enclosed at construction and that is completed now too. Funny thing, my son's room seems warmer...DUH!
Planning on plenty of good prep work so my paint comes out nice. Hope to lay some ceiling paint on soon and get some lighting hung. The floor still haunts me at night. Its one task I am not looking forward to doing having never done it. I did read a great tutorial however and feel a little more confident now.

Some progress made over the weekend. Four 8ft T12 flourescent sections and the fan. Hope to paint the ceiling this week and work the walls with some additional power points. Meanwhile I also have an order for a new garden for the wife. Trying to balance the time so its not all about me!
Coming together slowly though!

Ceiling painted a nice bright white today. Starting to look better slowly.
This weekend will yield no progress. Hershey Porsche Swap meet and autocross weekend. Also need to keep moving on the garden. Post holes dug for fencing and the wife is chomping at my ear to get it done so she can plant. Thanks for following the thread guys.

A little ********* garage fun! Sorry if this is offensive but its all in fun. It's an old saying from my 2011 downhill MTB racing season. It's what I told myself in the start gate every race to get stoked for my run. It worked well because I was series champion and ranked 3rd in the US. So I figured it would help this project too.....and a few beers. Lol!

Btw, anyone have any advice for flooring other than epoxy coatings? Kinda thinking that's gonna be a disaster having never done it. Too many things to go wrong it seems. Considering a Race Deck style floor but concerned about things like water and stuff getting on, or more so, under it and starting to mold and mildew. My wife brings her car in and out all year along with rain, snow, salts, etc. Any thoughts?

You can put down ceramic tile like Jack Olsen did in his garage or you can put down VCT ( vinyl composition tile ).

A little more progress this week reveals my lower wall covering that will accent the metals and greys and give the industrial look I was searching for. Also hung cabinets this week.

Yes sir! That's corrugated steel roofing fit at 3 FT high sections with top cap aluminum J channel. It turned out beautiful and wasn't too hard to work with.
Thanks for the vote of support. Finished hanging it all today and have some paint touch ups to do and a small amout of electrical work yet. Almost done and will meet my June 1 goal easily.
The floor will remain natural. This is a working garage after all!

More pics of continued progress. Replaced my Dodge clock internals with a Mobil tin sign I cut down to fit. It makes a more appropriate sign for my theme.
In wall speaker terminals and network was done at construction. Of course everything is wifi now but its nice having the entire house wired iif needed.
Some loose ends to patch up like paint touch ups but soon done!

Expanding my electrical options tonight. A few more little touch ups and install receptacles, grey fixtures, metal plates..... and done! Wife's garden delayed me some but she is VERY happy with her Mother's Day gift. The insane looks i was once getting for making the garage an art project have faded. The neighbors think I'm crazy as hell and wonder why I did it. I just tell them, "because I can". Lol!

Not sure which sign you're referring to.

And yes the teener is off the blocks. It's actually not one of those that spends its life up on blocks! Lol. Was only up for an interior update over winter.

Thanks gentlemen for the steady stream of compliments as I have navigated my way through this project. I have found your comments motivational and rewarding. I am gonna be posting lots of pics of the finished garage when done. However, the real enhancements will be wall art, knick knacks, and pictures which will take time. Overall I am pleased with the base look. It goes with our house well and even the wife likes it!!! As long as she keeps her stuff..... OUT!! It's MY garage and she gets to park in it.
