I have no affiliation with these guys at all. I don't even live in the same country. But their series "Project Binky" where they take an old rusted out mini and try to fit a 92 Toyota Celica GT four engine, running gear and suspension into it without changing the original dimensions has some great stuff in it. Not to mention, heating, aircon, power steering, automatic wipers, central locking and electric windows.

Their welding skills whilst good, pale against a couple of posters on here, especially with Alu.

There is stuff for the beginners to the experts. The dolley they have the car on is fantastic. The fabrication, problem solving and ingenuity would appeal to many people on here. So in the spirit of this forum I'm recommending it. They are roughly 20-30min episodes and the guys have been on this for about 3 years in their spare time....

***Warning, their sense of humour is British :) ***

Look up "Project Binky" on Youtube. I can't post a link because I only have 3 posts on here. I spend most of my time reading and learning.

Yes, I've been following Project Binky for a few years now. It's a hoot, and always a treat when a new episode drops.

Yep, I've been following along with that series. They do a good job of explaining why they are doing things and then showing how it is done.

Just enough humor to keep it from being dry, but the fab skills keep it interesting!

I envy the people who are just finding this series - the wait between episodes is almost too much to take.

I have watched the series for a few years. I find the rotating welding table / jig is something I would really like to have.

Yep, Binky is one of my favorite things to watch. Been keeping up with their projects for the last few years. They're talented guys.

Binky is one of the only shows that I eagerly wait for the next episode of. The content is great, the humor keeps it entertaining. Most of all, no fake drama!!!

The over engineered elements are so good. The wait between episodes is tough.
What’s a good show also is SOUP classic motoring.

It’s not as engineered as Binky but it’s a great motivator to keep on going through projects when they get tough. [emoji6]
As we all (some) know how that feels.

I stumbled across SOUP a while back, I enjoy his videos. Not nearly as technical as Project Binky, but entertaining and good videography.

Ha! My mate put me onto it a year ago and I only just got around to watching it. I don't get on YouTube alot. I think I would have to watch some episodes a few times to get the most out of them for tips.

This is so funny, I was just this evening thinking about binky and when the next one would be out. I went and low and behold a new episode. I love the fab work and even though they are well outfitted, they are not using very technical machines (think water jet, laser, large mills or lathes) some are even homemade.

I really enjoy their problem solving and CAD engineering. Its impressive what they have done with a minimal amount of tools.

I watched the latest episode last night, and I have to admit, the problem solving for the packaging of the alternator and AC compressor is just insane! The amount of engineering they did to make them fit where they did was just bananas. That car is going to be bonkers cool when its done.

I binge watched the series and there has been a steady progression in Nik's skill level and his desire to make every mini project better.
When they first started the alternator fix would not have been nearly as sophisticated.
Love the series and thanks to the OP for giving us the link.

I had not heard of the series until this thread popped up. Thanks for the heads up. Truly epic fab/engineering skills. Much more sophisticated than my typical solutions to custom work. I am more of a bash it till it fits type.

Watched every episode, some more than once, well worth binge watching if you haven't seen it before. Beware though, you might want to go out and attempt something similar!!N

I started watching Project Binky a week or so ago and it is fantastic. It's Wallace and Grommit meet Top Gear. I cannot recommend it enough. These 2 guys are absolutely insane and you have to love them for it.

What they are doing is so typical of the experience of rebuilding anything. Cars, houses you name it. We start out believing it will go one way and it ends up going up, down, sideways and around the block. They don't let anything stop them and that is inspirational. It's also hysterically funny at times. In a subdued British stiff upper lip sort of way of course.

I must admit it feels like they got a nice cash injection to do that episode.
They must have had those brackets drawn up in CAD (probably not Cardboard Aided Design [emoji6]) as it feels like they would have shown us some iterations if they did.

It is absolutely mental the amount of work they have put in. Loved the wiring as you know you’ve turned a corner when that’s happening on a car!!!! [emoji23]

I am a fan too. The brackets they make are incredible. From suspension to electrical they can whip up a stock looking bracket for a grinder, welder, cardboard and bender. Amazing!

I know I mentioned it before above but I really like this show. It’s called SOUP classic motoring.

In earlier episodes he did long videos with interviews but he had a realignment and decided to do shorter bursts as this is what ‘YouTube’ wanted.

He puts serious effort into stop motion for his builds. So much effort it’s impressive.

Between Soup and Binky I find they are both great motivators.

Well this thread inspired me to go check them out, spent last week watching every episode in the evenings. Love it, awesome skills with honestly a fairly basic set of tools and shop equipment. Very impressive fab, design and engineering work to say the least. Thanks for getting me into the series
