Doing this just for shits and grins....old Nazi Helmet and peanut tank...the plan is to have it come up out of the tank, move the bung to the top of the helmet and hope it is all air tight...lol. Will update as it progresses..thru out the week...

So fliped the tank over ground off paint for a ground...then started cutting it up..Funny what you fine in old gas tanks from the swapmeet...lol

cut the bottom off then ground the helmet rivets flat and popped them with the torch...yes I set the liner on fire...funny being what 70 years old...it just kinda burned slow...

finished up the helmet and recut slot for bending the tank in the morning....This is one of those 30min a day projects...so heating and bending in the morning..

I'd be worried that the gas will desolve that helmet material and contaminate the fuel system.

Its a German helmet alright, probably a M35 or M42 from WWII, by the sticker apears to be regular Army helmet.

And I think it is a reproduction, the liner apears to be WWII USA style, not German and other things look a little off. Could be a movie prop.
