Finally got the place cleaned up yesterday, just in time for our friend Alex Bellus to swing by to take some pictures. Still have more furniture/railings/lifts/cars to put in it, but his photography makes even a bare place look awesome!

(Folks - if you ever need a great photographer, hit Alex up - bellus.alex @ gmail)

HIRISC:

Those pics by Alex Bellus are some of the greatest shots I have seen on any forum.

He is a super photgrapher, a real pro.

Your build was top pro, too. Great job.

Thanks - Alex made our place look amazing.

He's just a heck of a photographer and a great guy to boot.

Oh my God - I'm not sure I’m worthy to look at this thread!!!

Awesome space. Won’t even begin to list the stuff I like and the ideas I am going to steal.

Adopt me?

I'm going to hazard a guess that the bike in this pic is the 1000cc Yamaha "Thunder-Ace" of the mid 90's?

:)

Close.. That was my wife's 1997 YZF600. Only 3500 miles and mint :)

She lost interest and we sold it last summer.

I have a 2002 VFR800 that you can see if you look close to the right.

Ah, the "Thunder-Cat," (as it was called up here and in Europe). :D

I like your taste in bikes! I too am a Yamaha/Honda owner.

(Too bad your wife doesn't ride anymore. :( Mine barely rides pillion)

'My' wife wants to ride shotgun - not really my idea of a good time.

Maybe we should trade :lol_hitti

She's given you the perfect excuse for getting another bike! Two-up wouldn't be sooooo bad on something like this: ;)

Here a pic of my 2002 FZ1, (-the wife and I visited Pennsylvania last summer):

So any updates?

Not really, in a bit of a lull.

More furniture coming in next week and the week after.
Lifts coming in last week of the month
FFR Cobra kit coming in +/- 10 days
Bringing cars over by April 1
Cars & Coffee on April 3
Stair rail & deck rail +/- end of April.

I'm working on getting tools in place, hanging my air hose reel, etc.

Kind of nice to have a little calm before the storm :)

427W Ford.

getting some press on "Build Threads" as well.

Yeah, a friend of mine emailed that link to me too.. it's cool that the garage condo concept is relatively popular.

The most common misperception is that we will live in it. 'Condo' is a bit of a misnomer. It's a hang out/storage location with some space to have a beer and catch a game.

I haven't been around much in the last 2 weeks, I knew I wouldn't be dissapointed with this thread.

Thats the most amazing thing i have ever seen. If only you were allowed to live in it, it would be absolutely perfect.

GREAT JOB!

I was out there for an auction on Saturday. Pretty cool concept.
I did recognize where yours was by the outside deck.
It was a little chilly outside so I didn't see any garage doors open but
I walked around and looked in a couple of service doors that were open.
It looks like like there are alot of nice setups. I will be sure to hit it again when the weather warms up.

I can't wait to see it with the lifts in. Any chance of putting some neon lights in to let them reflect of the cars?

Maybe.. I lean more toward tin/porcelain signs but I've had my eye on a certain neon for awhile :)

I was there briefly on Satuday, but you're right, too cold to keep the doors open.

I'm there for every cars & coffee event. 1st Saturday of every month. Swing by and introduce yourself if you make it to one of those.

this garage is amazing! I also love the sleek modern decor. 5 stars!

Thanks brother.

Well, the shop is starting to come alive….My MK4 (Cobra Kit) arrived yesterday from Factory Five.

Easy unload of the body/chassis and about 20 boxes of parts.

Spent day 1 marking the panels for location and to note which panel was on top of what panel, marked the blind sides of the panels with sharpie, then removed all of them.

Looking forward to the build.

Furniture and my Vision Racing seat are in, and someday I’ll see my BendPak HD-9XW. I’ll post more pics next week, but here’s day 1 of the FFR build.

Probably will on a different thread.. I'm considering a web cam for live shots, but I'm afraid that will just enhance how slowly I work!

Don't forget to post a link ... I'd love to watch the build and I also want to see that new space of yours cluttered up a little!

Factory Five just switched from their 5 year old or so MK3 version of the C*bra to their new MK4. That delayed the delivery by about 3 weeks or so.

I'm glad to be using the shop for 'shop-like' purposes too.. it's too expensive to just use as an oversized tree fort.

More stuff/work coming. I'll keep posting garage related stuff here. I'll likely start another thread for the build once I get going.

6 Grrrs - I'm considering the new Ford 427w with an injected stack.. won't order drivetrain for a while - need some details to pine over while I'm drilling a zillion rivet holes.. LOL.

Did they make some refinements to the body shape for the mark IV version? One of the quick ways to recognize a Factory Five car has always been because they had an odd hump in the trunk lid right above the license plate, and I don't see one on your car.

They do seem like a well designed kit. Is this one going to be for the street only or will it be a track day car?

Good eyes Stuart. The Factory Five MK3 had more pronounced hips and trunk section, sometimes referred to as 'the perky ****'.

One of the refinements of the new model is to more closely copy the original Cobra. There are many other modifications, but none of visual consequence.

This will be a/nother weekend/sunny car - much like the '69 is. I'm a project kind of guy and this is one I've wanted to do for a long time. That said, at some point this might make a very fun DE car. :)

HIRISC, you have a fantastic place to work on your cars. I have enjoyed following your build-up. I especially like the moduline cabinets. What brand of hand tools are you going to fill them with? Will you be buying all brand new?

Thanks.

Thanks guys.

Although I'm not a big Sears fan - especially post K-Mart affiliation - I am a Crafstsman tool guy and have been for a long time.

The truck brands are awesome, but I'm not a professional wrench and my cheap self comes out when I'm staring at $10K for hand tools. I've brought some from my home setup as well as purchased some new stuff for the shop. The FFR build gives me an excuse to buy some speciality tools, but I'm not going overboard.
