Looking for ideas to use 3/8” and 1/2” stainless steel plate. Have some pieces about 4 foot long and 2 foot wide. I don’t have a welder to weld them. I do have drill bits, angle grinder, and small metal working tools. Open to any ideas

A 48" X 24" X 3/8" workbench top made from stainless should be impervious to just about anything one is likely to do in a home garage. That would be a 125 lb. piece of stainless steel so build accordingly.

I have used some SS on projects and detest the work hardening that happens when drilling holes. I can't imagine trying to punch holes in plate this thick without eating drill bits.

Slooow bit speed, good lube (WD-40 or kerosene work well) and LOTS of pressure. Once work-hardened, you're royally screwed.

BTW--I know you don't have a welder--yet--but weld spatter sticks to SS like no one's business.

You could just drop by the pub here sometime and I'll trade for beer!

Is this comment directed my way?
I was through Joseph a couple years ago with the wife and kids, I should have stopped in.
