Great job so far! It'll be worth every penny in the end. And hello from a fellow Saskatchewan resident.

Looks 10x better, I would have gone with a metal roof though. I like the sprayed insulation. How much did that cost if you dont mind? I also have 30x40 pole barn and need insulation bad!

Door looks great! I have always shyed away from those twist up tension things. Looking at your top rails I noticed you have a angle iron running from side to side to steady things up. Is there still side to side play in those rails? You may want to put a angled piece from the rail up to a rafter to keep those rails solid. It does not take much play at all for those doors to come off the track. Just a suggestion. I am really enjoying your re-use of this shop. Looking forward to seeing more.

Red Deer Alberta checking in. Nice work!

Enjoying that 2nd winter this past week I bet? I took my 240sx out and it got burried in a foot of snow that night, guessing you got it too? Saskatoon is almost the same parallel.

Is there some online newspaper or perhaps some info you can send me of any properties for sale? or if you are willing to sub-divide, email me, I'm looking into buying some land in Saskatchewan before it turns into Alberta 2. [email protected]

Greets from another Saskatchewanian! I may need some insulation work done later this year. PM me and we can exchange details.

Nice work on the shed. I'm surprised how much you've done this spring with the weather we've had. My yard is still mush.

On the raised floor issue, how are you going to keep the critters out from under there. I've had d*mn gophers pop up in the middle of my 42 x 42 shed that just has a gravel floor! And a family of skunks that tried to take up residence under another shed with a wood floor.

I look forward to seeing more of your build.

Here's where we are today:

Good job on the roof! I do have to ask: WTF is your dog doing on the roof!! Mine won't even ride in the truck without taking a motion sickness pill wrapped in turkey!!

Had to give you a hard time, just because! Looks great man! Are you ready for the warmer weather? Should be right around the corner!

Nice place you have wish I had some place like that. About living out there have you thought about a camping trailer to live in tell you build your house? During the warm months you can have it outside but one the snow and ice come you move it inside your building for added protection from the weather (snow and cold).

Very nice building! I'm glad to see you are saving it, it is sad to see great old buildings abandoned and falling apart. I look forward to reading more... and seeing more pictures!

Great project!

When I looked at your first few pics of the land I said to myself "that looks just like Sask..." and sure enough it was!

I went on wheat harvest in 2005 and spent about 6 weeks in Estevan. I was only 20 (most of us were 18-20) and we had the wildest time being able to drink since the legal limit is 18 there!!

I met a lot of great people there and will always remember it.

PS- Building that fence was a brilliant idea!! It looks amazing, you must have a huge smile each time you approach your property! I sure would!

Really inspiring build! I have an old shop that is in complete disrepair that I was wondering “do I fix it or tear it down before it falls on someone?!”.
As it is similar to your shop and I can’t afford to start over either I think I’m going to start the renovation after memorial day.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

The Chebby:)mad:) tow truck made retrieving the Ford look easy (I'm going to go out on a limb and say you'll enjoy that bit of news, Slimpickin's).

The truck is at home, in need of a cleaning now... Or not. It's used for work and the farm, I barely ever clean that sum'bich! Whats the point.

dlenkewich,

Wow, incredible transformation, incredible views. I think all that acreage is too much for you to handle, I think i should take a few of them off your hands. lol

Do you have an option for LP gas in your area as well as a dug/artesian well for water?

How much more progress have you made this last month?

What about a used camping trailer to live in, while building the shed. You could even pull it into the shed, to make it easier to heat (out of the wind/weather). Pull the trailer to a place to dump it and fill back up with water once a week...or get those facilities on your site, so you can just sleep/cook in the trailer. Even just a pop-up trailer would work for the sleeping and cooking, since you have room to 'live' in the shed. Then, you just have to work out the facilities (bathroom and running water).

A good friend of mine is doing just this as we speak. He inherited a piece of property with an old house on it from his grandparents. He bought a FEMA trailer for next to nothing and hooked it up to the existing utilities on the property. This allows him to level the existing old house that was dilapidated and build his shop/living loft combo. Great idea. In all seriousness, he bought the trailer for somewhere in the neighborhood of$700 and it was barely used.

Love the project. I'd love to do something similar one day.

I was looking at the pictures thinking the terrain looked familiar ... then realized it's around Saskatoon. Another s'tooner here. Good to see we have a few around.
