Ok I’m ready to replace our 12 year old 5 burner propane grill. It’s a cheap Broil King that we got a deal on back in the days from RC Willey along with some furniture. It’s constructed of a mixed stainless outside and metal parts inside. I’m tired of cleaning it and it just feels like it’s about to fall apart… Rusty inside.

-Are the KitchAid grills I see at Costco good?
-What are the easiest to clean grills out there?
-Any full stainless steel recommendations? I mean full as in all the internal parts as well??

Please lmk y’all opinions. Thanks in advance!!

I used to get the cheapest entry level house brands from Lowe's or Home Depot, and I would replace them every 2-3 years when they rusted out (Seattle).

In 2015 I got a Weber Genesis S-330 (LP, stainless, with side burner) and have never been happier. I finally had to get new igniters just this summer, so I replaced the burners proactively at the same time. The exterior and main body have plenty of life left and it works like new again.

I'd buy another one tomorrow if mine totally crapped out tonight!

Edit - Here is a picture of it a few months ago, still looks great.

My experience with Weber has been great. Mine is going on 13 years old. I did get some parts under warranty and found the company good to deal with. Use it a few times a week when weather is good. Never been covered or stored inside (In sw PA).

I too have a Weber Genesis that is probably 10 years old. Not only is it reliable, as I only replaced knobs, because SWBO felt that it was necessary, and the occasional cover during this 10 year period, but equally if not more important, is that the grill cooks evenly and food comes out great.

It is one of those buy once, cry once type purchases.

We broke down and bought a Weber Genesis 2
Lx-S 640 5 years ago. It is the best grill I have ever used and works & looks as good new. I needed a 6 burner grill, we have 18 here every Sunday and the Weber was the best option,
When you absolutely positively need to grill 38#

Ayuh,...... I've had 4 bbq grills over the last 30 years or so,.....
Each was found at the end of somebody's driveway, by the road,.....

I took 'em home, tighten the loose screws, popped in fresh burners, 'n run 'em,....

Current one is a ssteel Char-broil,.... 4 burners, cast iron crates, 'n a side pot burner,....
Found it 3 years ago, tighten the screws, 'n been usin' it ever since,....
Only thing that don't work is the igniter, which is fine, as I light 'em up with a trigger torch,....

Bought the Kitchenaid grill from Lowes about 6-7 years ago. Same grill as at Costco. It has served me very well. Lowes price then was about $450; end of season. If I recall Costco is at $699. Stainless holds up well; only issue is that grates look like stainless steel but are really stainless steel clad. Only now a few of the pieces are starting to bubble. Overall a good grill.

As to Weber's just be aware that it seems like the Genesis line is now being imported from China; only Summits are still USA made. I can's speak to how the change has impacted quality.

Bought a weber genesis in 2012 in the aftermath of hurricane sandy, to replace the weber we had since 1993 or so. The damn thing still looks brand new. I wish I restored the old redhead weber, it had the older style wooden shelves, and got us thru 3 + weeks of no power, even with a leaky burner tube. I dont even cover the new genesis during the summer, and it's held up really good, probably paid 6 or 700 for it 10 years ago, and glad I did.

Alfresco. Spendy, but ALL stainless steel. Cleans easily, and the rotisserie is built in. Motor is in the bottom so nothing sticks out the side. Mine is 11 years old, looks & works like new.

I have my eye on a Weber, if it goes on sale I'll probably grab it. That said, mine stays inside the shed and only gets wheeled out to use it and then put back. So my janky little CharBroil that I bought for $100 back in 2007 is still going strong for the most part.

I bought a weber silver genesis from Home Depot 15 years ago or so. Still ticking, stays outside on deck, no cover. I;ve replaced gas burners, flavor bars and grates several times. Ignitor once, never on valves. I use it so much I have it hooked to 100lb cylinder.

Taking this in another direction, check out the Blackstone Griddles. We bought the 28” for our SIL last month and while he loves his Broilmaster grill he is doing a lot more cooking on the griddle and using it for all 3 meals/day. Bacon, pancakes, eggs, fajitas, etc. He is going to keep the Broilmaster for the odd turkey, etc, but he loves the griddle. For a gas grill, we bought the Weber Genesis last year and it is very good.

I have a weber Genesis that's over 20 years old. It's a natural gas grill. If you have natural gas at your house I would look at plumbing natural gas and getting a natural gas grill. I never have to worry about changing tanks or running out of gas.

If the price of a new Weber is a sticking point, just keep your eye out for a fixer upper like CJM did.
Lots of time when people move, they‘d rather leave their greasy old grill behind so they put it out on the street or list it on CL or FB Marketplace cheap. Pro movers won’t allow propane tanks on their trucks. An hour of cleaning and maybe some replacement parts and you’re in business.

For example, see this ad for a grill in my general neighborhood for a 4 burner Weber Summit, top of the line all SS. Side burner (With a tank too)

Weber for the investment / quality (buy once, cry once)
I like our Napoleon Rogue Grill, but it is not a Weber.
We also have a camp chef griddle (which needs severely reseasoned) and bradley 4 rack smoker.

Yes, get a used weber GENISIS. The summit is their Chinese made model now and not comparable. I have family and friends with 20 year old Genisis that replace the wheels and wood handle. Parts are still the same/available and the grill looks new again.

Most if not all of the Genesis are still USA made. All the Summits are USA made. The Spirits are all made in China. The charcoal kettles are still made here. I have a Genesis II that sits outside all winter and still works fine after 8 years. Looks good too. The only thing I ever replaced was the igniter pushbutton when I left it uncovered and it rained for like three straight days. Some water got into the battery compartment and caused the battery to short and leak. Weber probably would have covered it under warranty but I just bought a new igniter because it was my own fault. There is a reason everyone recommends Weber. They use thicker steel and hold heat better than any of the common grills you find at box stores and are just built better than average.

Budget ....??

You can't go wrong with the Genesis line from Webber. First -- they work. That may seem like a stupid comment -- trust me so many of the big grills can be a pain. I have two large 48" DCS monsters at two different houses and they work great after you get them hot. Thank god they are attached to natural gas. My nephew loves the Saber grill as he thinks they get hotter so we have a bunch of them in the family and we have a Napoleon dealer near our country place that could sell ice in Siberia -- seems all our friends have them.

I do believe it's better to spend a bit more vs what that value line at the big box stores go for $500 range --- those $500/$600 look like much more expensive grills .... IMO -- they don't work as well as the Webber Genesis. I actually like using the porcelain ones -- although IMO the SS grates are better. I bought my great nephew the basic black Genesis for his new house earlier in the summer. They just work --- heat fast and they don't go through propane like so many. First class customer service

I have a stainless Char-Broil, since 2009. It is the Infra-red model, works as new. Lived outside w/a cover since new, 6 years in Connecticut and 6 years in SC. Replaced cover once in 2017.

Today I believe they are called the Commercial Model to get the infra-red features, I would buy another one.

Char-Broil made the iconic gas grill on a pole ... I had one at my cabin back in the 80's and we had one at the shore years ago -- in the 70's/ They were aluminum and they really worked. Simple and first rate .... they were one of the first BBQ makers.

They make the Saber --- I think it's all offshore manufacturing today. Back in the 90's I wanted one of the pole grills in DC and looked into getting one and they were not making them anymore.

Years ago for the rv i had an olympic grill for camping, a small tabletop size but it was cast iron with a smoker plate, no rocks or briquettes. Much easier than dragging a full size grill and the small steel grills would only last a season or 2 if lucky. Someone in the campground recommended it. if we hadn't sold the rv in 2004, i bet it would still be in use. I was like $100 in 1988, a small propane cylinder would last most of the weekend for 5 of us. Made a small turkey on it once..lol
Ordered online at CampingWorld, before they sold RV's.

I have put 100’s of grills together. literally. I worked as the assembler for the blue big box store before they went to 3rd party vendor. Never had a problem putting Webers together, everything just fit. Char-broil commercial was not bad either. Can’t say much good about any of the others. Just gave my old Genesis Weber to our daughter, replaced it with a new Genesis.
