I have decided on a ceiling mounted propane heater with direct vent or power vent. Here are my questions:

1. What heater do your recommend and why?

2. I want to vent it right through the wall. Is there a difference in direct vent and power vent?

3. How do I determine what size unit would be the most efficient for my garage size? Garage is around 29x26x9. My plan is to keep the garage around 48-50 degrees and I will use the wood burning furnace when I have company over in the garage.

Thanks

Just finished doing that. It seems everyone uses a pretty different setup. I have almost decided to just stick with the Lennox furnace. After all it is twice the unit as any of the ceiling mounted models. And after thinking about it, heat rises so would a down flow unit not be ideal for a garage application opposed to a ceiling mounted unit that is mounted right to the ceiling. I just cant see any application in a garage where a ceiling mounted unit would ever be ideal when compared to a down flow unit unless space is a major factor...

Ceiling mounted unit heaters have louvers which force the heated air down.

They don't require as much effort to mount, they don't require headroom for intake air, and they don't take up as much space as your downflow heater. It's the right tool for the job.

Good luck with your decision though!

I just talked with a Lennox dealer and he said that my unit is way way over rated for my space. He said that it would constantly short cycle, which according to him is very bad for the unit.
