Paid $2.02 Gal last week. My Brother in-law prepaid $1.68 in bulk for the season, but wasn't kind enough to include me in the purchase. We have a 1,000 gal tank and I was worried about the stories of prices soaring near or over $5. We're heating around 7,000 sq. ft. with a lot of dead space for high ceilings. I ended up paying the same price I have paid all Winter, so real happy at the moment. Last Summer our supplier offered to lock everyone at $2.68 per gallon for 12 months. We didn't bite. I'm sure many did and that one may have stung the supplier this time around.

We have NG coming this Summer, which will cut our cost significantly. Can't wait-

Anyone in upper Midwest get gas lately how much did you pay, I'm down below 40% just trying to hold of as long as I can hoping price comes down a little

At 40%, your tank is basically half full...you should be good for quite a bit...depending on tank size...I call for a refill when I am at 10%.

I hate big government but seems it not going to change and they like to control stuff . This would be a good one.

Watching the finance channel the other day I heard the Other Other reason why propane went so stupidly high. It's because a major portion of it is sold overseas. What a deal eh? Sell it over there to drive up the price here but it's not controlling the market. Just keep saying that and may be someone will believe it. If you and I did something like that we would be in the slammer while these thugs rip everyone off and don't pay but a pittance in taxes all the while.
That's the thing about extreme capitalism, it's not much better than the opposition when things play out. It works fine as long as the market is truly free. The problems begin as soon as the super players remove or otherwise remove the opposition. It works just like a game of Monopoly which is what they used to call it. Today however I guess you might call it Major Market Share.

Down to 2.79 + tax yesterday. 250 gal minimum purchase. FWIW my summer fill was 1.75 per. I surely miss the 85 cent per gal days (not that long ago).

The delivery guy was chatty yesterday when I brought the subject up. He said they hit 5.50 for a couple of weeks. Said Hell yes to my statement that someone needs fired.

He confirmed that the farmer drying season caught them a bit off guard but it was manageable. But then that Polar thing hit hard and sent any of those plans out the window.

He did say their sole biggest problem was that their distributor / supplier which is only 30 miles away decided to shut down and do maintenance IN DECEMBER. July, when nothing propane is going on would be the obvious smarter move. Contrived and calculated shortage perhaps?
There are some seriously angry end suppliers/delivery people at the moment.

I am NOT going to get caught out next time and it WILL happen again if the gasoline industry is any benchmark. Lots more insulation and alternative backup heating sources is where my money is going this year.

I don't like the Polar thing.
Canada, please take it back. We apologize for everything.

Please forgive this but how can you say such a thing ? You don't even know what his demand is , yet you say it should be good for awhile ? Define that
Please .

I called today and we are at 2.75 in central Oklahoma. I put my name on the list for one of the 1000 gal tanks they are fixing to get in. I am not getting caught by this again.

That's why I qualified it by saying "depending on tank size".

If his tank is undersized for the total propane demand of his appliances, then it won't last long.

If his tank is properly sized based on his demand, then a half full tank should last quite a while...

I have a single propane appliance (35K BTU stove/fireplace) and at 40% full, my tank will last 1-2 months depending on how often we fire the stove.

Been watching this thread, and dreading having to refill our tank.
Was very pleasantly surprised to find our supplier had it priced at $1.99/gallon.
We own our tank, so price shop between 3 different suppliers, but I can't recall the last time we bought anywhere else.
We're in southeast NE.

Personally I don't figure it is ever going to get much cheaper to buy propane in the future, so I am doing about everything I can to reduce my demand.

Even though I am set up pretty well, I have some lame windows in the older part of the house, additonal insulation to be added in one of the rooms, and some additonal spray foam all over the summer.

Have a pretty small house really helps when there is just the 2 of us anyway.

Oh, but we don't want Beiber .... Mayor Fords love child indeed:D

Trains not moving the crops to the ports due to extreme cold, not likely moving propane either.

They are running just fine into the US over on the NY VT Border. My buddy scans the CP trains at night with the CPB x ray rig and they have been keeping him hopping on the night shift. Train after train of oil out of those tar sands operations. There's not much that stops those trains these days.

Bumping to the top.

I called my propane provider earlier today...price is down to $0.69 per litre here just north of Montreal...which is $0.20 cheaper than my initial fill, and a whopping $0.50 cheaper than the 1/2 fill I had done back in mid-February

That's $2.60 per US gallon.

They are coming out on Wednesday to fill me up. I won't need any of it until late October or early November when we will start using the stove again as supplemental (or emergency) heat.

What's everybody else paying these days ?

I got a quote from 3 different ones (customer owned tank) for 1.70 to 1.90 I think. What month is typically the cheapest in the summer? It seems to be a little high to me from last year.

Truck showed up for my summer fill today. $2.00 / gal in the UP.

Can't complain.

I dodged the bullet last January and topped off at $2.49 about a week before the price shot up to ~$6.00 / gal. My neighbor wasn't so lucky.

Seems rather steep for heating.......paid .52/L for road fuel here yesterday, for my old Dodge. Was up to about a buck last Jan.

We were about out and had to get some for the water heater. 1.91 a gal. Was 4.15 in Feb.
and March. We have usually found July and August to be the lowest price, but I'm not
seeing much more of a decline due to the pipeline capacity problem they are talking about. More and more propane is being trucked long distances. They got away with the
$ 4,5 and $ 6. per gallon gouging last winter and they will just continue doing more of the same. Two years ago we prepaid for our normal winters gallons in August, $ 1.45 per gal.

I told the propane industry to go to hell and ordered an outdoor wood furnace today.

Feels good. :)

I don't want to throw water on your parade but your going to be married to that outdoor boiler and there not all there cracked up to be . Ask me how I know , I personal don!'t have one but I see many taken out or abandon after a few yrs.

I do plbg & htg and have installed several and also taken about half of them out.
But good luck .
