Propane tank location

I'm going to be putting a Hot Dawg heater in the shop and I'm trying to figure out where to put the propane tank. My old shop had an upright 100 gallon (lbs?) tank behind the building. There were no windows and it was placed about 15 feet from the flue vent.

I've got windows on my new shop and I'm trying to figure out if there is a distance requirement from the window for the tank. I know I need a minimum of 10 feet from the flue vent (ignition source), but is there a distance requirement from a window?

Mine was 10' from the property line and 10' from the structure. Good luck, Bill. Also I used the plastic line and buried it.

In Virginia, you can't be within 4 feet of any wall opening (window, door, or foundation gap) and you can't be within, I think, 10 feet of an electrical outlet.

Sounds like you may want to call your local building inspector for the local requirements.

In my town, I have seen those 200 (or 400, guestimating while driving by) pound tanks right next to people's front stairs which leads immediately to the door by the house.

you also may try a local propane providers website, seems to me mine had/has downloadable pdfs with pictures and everything of where a tank can/can't go
