How the fawk is it nearly $4 a gallon here and 0.90 in North Dakota? That is down right crazy! What is gasoline in North Dakota? It's around $3.35/gal here

The best local (north Alabama) price for propane winter pre-buy is $1.499/gal. Last year, I waited until Feb/Mar, & it was actually cheaper than the pre-buy price. I own my own tank for residential use.

That's awesome. You need to buy a bigger tank.

I heard $1.39 here yesterday for an agricultural operation (fixed price for a few thousand gallons)

Phil

No i need to get off my lazy **** and get the natural gas line buried from the house to the shop i went with propane out there because i got a great deal on the tank it was cheaper than the material's to run the line but the prices of propane are way to volital last year at this same time i paid 2.60.9 per gallon to fill it of course gasoline was 4 dollars a gallon then also. When i first put the heat in and installed the tank i only paid .99.9 per gallon my tank is big enough to run all winter so i try to get the cheapest price mid summer if you lease a tank around here they can and will charge a dollar a gallon over going rate! When i get chewed out for working for the gas company and what we charge i tell people to get a propane tank and let me know how that work's for them LOL

Gas in Fort wayne Indiana is at 2.22 a gallon when i came home last night may have gone up today. I wonderd the same thing about the propane prices also. BP got fined two years ago for fixing prices. A terminal manager for Ferrall Gas told me they(BP) would burn off huge tank's of propane to keep prices higher rather than sell it.

You're preaching to the choir!

Our natural has dropped back down to about 90 cents a therm. That's equal to about 80-cent per gallon propane, if you figure about 89,000 BTU's per gallon on the propane.

The biggest cost difference is if you are buying propane in 20 gallon cylinders. That's about 3 gallons of propane for what? Like $7.00 per gallon or whatever? Puleeze!

not exactly sure what propane is in ND right now, but gas in ND where I'm at just dropped today to 2.49 / gallon (go figure, I filled my pickup late last night at 2.59 / gallon:shocking::lol_hitti:mad:) guess I shouldn't be upset about a declining gas price however:bounce:

I THINK propane might be around 1.09 / gallon here - not sure

So what's the verdict, is it better to lease a 500 gal tank or just buy the tank and shop around for the cheapest fill.

In my area it's better to buy the tank and shop around for the best deal on propane check with your local suppliers and see how much they charge over the going rate if you lease the tank compared to if you own the tank

Here in Wisconsin, I pre-bought for $1.24/gal and I lease the tank. If I owned the tank, it would have been a nickle cheaper. The lease is only $1 a year. Diesel here is $2.64 and 2.49 on the other side of the border in Minneapolis.

They told me here in Nw Arkansas $1.29 a gallon if I rent a tank from them
(New customer price). Regular customers are charged $1.49 a gallon.

A special right now is $54 a year on a 500 gallon tank rental, and they will wave the first year cost.:shocking:

I am going down there Thursday.

Hello not so distant neighbor. I signed with Ag-plus last year. I was looking at buying a 500 gallon tank. For a nickel over market price per gallon to rent a tank, it wasn't cost effective for the amount of time i am going to stay in this location. Out of curiosity, where did you find such a deal like your last post?

I used to live over by the builders mart on 24. Just off 600N and 250 East.

I know propane weighs 4.24 pounds per gallon so a 20# cylinder holds approx 5 gals. 20# cylinder price is $12.54 tax and all locally.:bounce:

I got my tank from Ferrall Gas i used to work on there truck's when i worked for Dimension Ford in the truck shop and they told me about the turn in tank's that hadnt been cleaned and painted so i asked if they had a 250 gallon tank and what price they quoted me $300 when it arrived it was 1/2 full. Both there branch manager and service guy both are former employees of Hoosier Propane the place i had my lease tank from so i think they were gladd to help them loose another customer.I called AG Plus in Huntington last year price shopping and they were not accepting new customer's.Yea you used to be real close to me im by the park in Roanoke
