Proper tool for cutting cultured marble

I need to cut down a couple of cultured marble countertops. I have a circular saw and a jig saw. Which would you suggest and what blade type?

I don't know exactly what you have to do, but if the opportunity exists, you might want to try a test cut with whatever you choose to cut with before making the money cut. So, for example, if you have to cut off six inches try cutting off two inches first just to get a feel for how it works. I read a long time ago that, "Nothing focusses your attention as much as making the first cut in a $400 piece of material.".

Good advice. Its a couple of countertops going into a new Dairy Queen store. Evidently it is my job, the plumbing contractor, to install these. First time for everything I guess.

Call a local cultural marble manufacturer and ask them about cutting the tops. They will most likely give you a few tips. Might want to ask them how you would go about polishing out scratches, just in case.

I've used a segmented diamond blade in a circular saw with good results. Put a strip of 2" wide blue masking tape on the finished side. Cut it upside down and go slowly to reduce tear-out.

Also do a test cut from the backside as well. Some materials chip less on the top if you cut from the back vs the front.

Yea I would call the supplier where they got the tops and ask them what they suggest for cutting. Might make your life easier...
