If you have the Milwaukee power tool, do you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to use a manual expander?

I have the M18 tool and although I haven't used it a ton since it's only for home/hobby use, I can't say I ever felt like there was a better alternative besides maybe the M12 version, but I refuse to buy anything M12 (I already spend way too much on M18 stuff...don't need to go down that M12 rabbit hole) so no is my qualified but fairly unqualified answer.

I'd say the answer is no. I cant imagine a scenario where the manual would be needed as opposed to either m12, m18 oe dewalt version.

The manual expander is quite awkward to use actually, the Milwaukee expander is the way to go. One hand operation and lot smaller than the manual unit.

Quoted for truth.

"Once upon a time", when there was no Milwaukee expander, the manual expander was all there was and it was great!

Now...... the battery powered unit is so much better. It's faster, easier, etc. To answer your question, no, I haven't found a time when the manual unit would work because the battery unit wouldn't (yet).

Can't even compare a hand expander to the powered. Granted I've used both (before the powered existed)......I can't see -anyone- using the hand powered at all !

My nephew asked me if I wanted his manual expander since he got the Milwaukee. I said why when I have your number.

I have done tons of work with Pex. I have thought about getting an expander. What kind of tubing are you guys using? Any issues with 3/4" oxygen barrier?

Are you buying rings or just cutting them from stock? I have only ever used the Uponor product for expansion style work.

I use the genuine Uponor stuff and order that from supplyhouse.com. If I am desperate for parts, only 1 of the local Home Depot's carries Pex-A products and their rings are fine as well. I personally prefer brass fittings and not the plastic, but I am old school (emphasis on old). :-D
