Going to be moving into a new house in a month or so. The basement is finished with Pergo laminate flooring laid on the concrete floor.

My plan is to use a portion of this finished basement area as a hobby workshop for making muzzleloading guns so there will be a combination of mostly wood work but some metal as well. I'm concerned about protecting the laminate flooring from the abuse of shop work.

I considered laying a 12' x 12' sheet of vinyl flooring over the laminate but would moisture between the concrete, the laminate, and the vinyl be a problem? Also, considered using plywood over the laminate as it would be more likely to breath.

Any thoughts, suggestions, comments or other ideas???
