Protecting floor against NY winter

Good afternoon I hope everyone here is doing well under the current circumstances. My garage floor is only about two years old and I'm getting some pitting. I live in Upstate New York so I'm guessing some of this is being caused by the salt. What's a good cost effective coating to use to protect it (28x28)?

Looks more like air bubbles that were close to the surface and collapsed to me. Sharp edges aren't usually from salt etching. I could be wrong.

Actually it looks like someone dropped some kind of mortar on the floor. That's not pitting. Scrape it off and carry on. Unless it's an optical illusion?

Definitely a hole in the floor.

Well alrighty then. Must be my aging vision. Well in that case, I'd say it's what referred to as a 'pop out'. These occur when reactive pieces of aggregate such as chert expand and pop out under freeze thaw conditions.

This varies regionally depending on aggregate sources. It's a relatively easy fix although the problem might continue to occur until all the suspect aggregate on the surface is gone.

If you are in a region without freeze/thaw conditions, I don't have a clue. Maybe someone else can help. lol

My sister lives outside Albany. When she bought her house the whole garage floor was pitted like that. 50+ years of uncoated concrete with salt and water exposure. It wasn’t pretty. I filled in all the holes and cracks. Pretty much skim coated the whole floor lol. Anyway I put down whatever garage epoxy was available at Home Depot at the time. 10* years later and it still looks decent. The coating is starting to wear in some spots but it’s not to bad.

I don't have anything to add that is helpful but I don't want LLWillysfan feeling like he is the only one not seeing the hole lol.

Yeah, I had the same problem, but try looking at the 2nd pic first. Then I got it.

It's like the damn blue dress/gold dress thing. :lol_hitti i still can't see holes.

I think I also need to revise my previous comments regarding the cause. Pop-outs usually occur on exposed concrete and the OP's floor on the interior. I'm not sure I've offered anything of value at all other than discovering I need to see my eye doctor.

Hi for good economical protection, use either the Ghostshield 5590/8510 system or our SPGX Polyurea one part coating. These will give excellent protection for you.
