I sprayed Tri-Flow awhile back to stop rust and protect it from suggestions here. It made it better for awhile. But it comes off on things touching it or I guess evaporation. I have WD-40 now and I heard its more like mineral spirits but i have not tried that.
Is polishing work on the hammered finish? I tried some on the bottom and it didn't seem like much happened. I used a machine, would hand be better?
Or like Mothers wax by hand? would that work well and protect it?

I use matte finish clear coat spray to prevent / cover rust on things like that, bottom of rusty boxes, etc. Couple of clear glossy coats and a top coat of matte finish if you think its really bad.

I have to do the Craftsman I just bought, one side of the bottom is pretty gross..
