Have an Agway steel 24x48 building with 3 slider windows in the back (long) side- about 18"x24". All woods behind it. Been here 25 years.

Recent new neighbor kids down the street run around through the woods at times. This past August I noticed a starburst in the one slider pane, and a BB sitting in between the panes. Found 1 dent in the siding near the window. 3 months later, the other pane of the same window got the same treatment (outer pane only again).

I would like to find some galvanized screening with holes small enough to prevent BBs going thru. I want to be able to open the windows in summer for cross-ventilation. A buddy had some he got from a wire shelf unit, and it had small diameter solid rod as a 'frame'. Very resistant to flexing & BBs don't fit through. Looked through McCarr-Master and they have some material that should work, or has anyone seen these types of screens ready-made for metal buildings?

Conversation with parents => *** whipping => new glass = not needing screen, at least when I came up. It's worth a try before you invest money and time.

• I have no proof the kids I suspect did it. Anyone who allows their kids to tote BB guns in the woods behind other's homes might not necc be all that agreeable to controlling the situation. But that's an option. The sort that would shoot at an obviously utilized building may just do it again. As of right now, I don't have to replace any windows- would rather not chance having to if that's the case.

• The thick plexiglass would cut off all ventllation, so that's out.

Do you have power to the building?
A 24/7 hour light and radio may be enough to stop them.

Who owns the woods? I would still have a conversation with the parents, you do not need to accuse anyone, just let them know, and maybe they will take care of it.

Google security screens. Although I'm no longer in the window business, we furnished a few for customers whose pets would run through the sliding screens or rip normal screens to shreds with their claws. The company we used was Midwest Security Screen. I'm sure it stop a bb gun .

Polygal would stop it and add a tiny bit of insulation. Holds up fairly well to baseball bats, too.

Count yourself lucky. A former customer had a new neighbors kid put a couple hundred bullet holes in his sawmill building. He did part while building was unoccupied and part during business hours.

Full swat response but didn't make the local news. His photos looked like Beirut or Kosovo or someplace. Kid was using everything from golf balls and shotgun slugs to high power rifles. There was an interior lumber rack and shelving covering that wall.

Trail cam, get pics of the kids with BB guns in the woods. Get pics of your windows. Go show the parents and ask politely that the kids stop because IF it happens again they will be buying replacement windows at "x" dollars a piece.

Thick plexiglass, but to retain your ventilation, mount it on standoffs a couple of inches from the building. It's done all the time for artwork and signs, but it should work fine for what you want.

Thanks for the suggestions- much appreciated.
Still looking at this page :
https://www.mcmaster.com/#wire-cloth/=1auw4j5

I have a bunch of stainless rod, maybe 3/16" dia and at least 8-ft long, someone gave me when they didn't get around to building a parrot cage. I can bend a rectangular frame up, weld the one corner, then stretch the mesh cloth over it & screw to the windows on the outside (maybe spaced with a few washers). BB diameter is 0.18, I'd use the 0.147 hole-size mesh and that should give me the best combo of light/ventilation and protection.
