The HF set protects wheels. The Mac set protects lugs. They serve different purposes. Most people would be best served by the wheel protector sockets. I like the big CP set, it has every size you'll ever need for around $80, but if you add a 22mm to the HF 7pc kit you'd be well covered for about $40.

Save your money. It's not like you take them on and off all the time, right?

On my old Porsche 911 with black lug nuts I just slipped a plastic sandwich bag on them, then slide the socket on.

I have the HF set and they work fine. The Teflon sleeve on one of the sockets was split on the first set I bought so I exchanged them for another. Just inspect them for damage.

use the old method and wrap a socket in electrical tape, i use a 21mm alot and nissan thought it was a great idea to have tight lugnut holes, i primarily use a thin wall 21mm from snap-on and i wrap that with electric tape, never mar up the finish of the wheel's lugnuts holes

Is the Chicago Pneumatic set made in USA?

Edit - some googling around leads me to believe they're imported.

I'm looking for some lug nut sockets to protect the chrome lug nuts themselves as well as the wheels of my car.

Will these HF ones work OK?

I also see MAC has a set, available on EBay, but it looks like these are only intended to protect the fastener and not the wheels. :dunno:

Will someone help me understand this? Thanks!

Scratched to hell gives my wheels and lugs character!

The good thing for you is you only have to buy one of those in your lug size so you can buy an expensive one. Why buy a set? Only need one.

Maybe he has more then one vehicle. Maybe he works on friends and family's vehicles. The HF set is only 24 dollars.

dankickass isnt the 7/8ths inch the same as a 22mm???

7/8 sockets get 22mm lugs stuck in them.

CP is imported but they're better quality than HF, Astro and Schwaben. I've had all those brands in protector sockets, and the CP 21mm lasts three times as long as any other I've tried. HF, Astro and Schwaben last about 90 days for me. I've never bothered to warranty trade them, a replacement is just $9. I never broke a flip socket though - I has the Astro flip kit for a year before I gave it away and it's still going strong in an apprentice's hands a year and a half later. For home use, any of them should last a lifetime.
