proto 3/8 big dawg

just wondering what a fair price would be for a new proto 3/8 5250p long handled big dawg would be.... have a chance at getting a few of them, would like one for myself and pass the rest on, but want to make sure i am not shooting myself in the foot... I am thinking 22.50-25.00 each....

am i in the ball park? any suggestions

yes, there was... part of my reason for being slightly hesitant on these.... personaly, i think it seems like a fair price.... however, my personal ratchet collection is starting to get to the point of obsession lol... but, if i am able to resell them and cover my $$$ then I will...

Fair price for a very nice ratchet. I have SO, MAC, Ko-Ken, Craftsman and a few others, and the PROTOs are the ones I always seem to grab first. Guess they don't have the "bling" of some other brand. For me, tools are made to be used, not collected as objects d'art.

Two things I would ask:
1. Since theese are widely available at $29-31, sometimes with free shipping, it seems a lot of trouble for a little profit?
2. Am not sure of the why of a "big dawg" a long-handle 3/8" ratchet? If it needs 100 lbs/ft to go on or off, then use the 1/2". That's why most of the 3/8" flex-head ratchets break or get floppy. Too many numb-nuts use them a breaker bar.

i do agree with you regarding the choice to go up to a 1/2 drive... sometimes that is not possible thoughthe head on some of the 3/8 ratchets being smaller can be the differance between using a socket or having to use a wrench at times... as for the long handle... personaly, i just like the way they feel...

lastly, not looking to really make any profit on these... but have an option on some and thought i would try to pass it on to fellow GJ members..... just wanted to get a feel for wether there would be enough interest for me to spend more money or not...

I personally like a longer 3/8' handle for work as I am often times reaching over and around a bike to get to the other side.

seems like an ok deal but not great. i got one a short time ago and love it. my big dawgs are now my go to rats for most jobs. i own short and long 3/8 and 1/2 and 1/4 plastic handle versions. i am on the prowl for handled versions in 3/8 short and long. some need a little less spring tension but that is an easy adjustment and they all like rll. i think you will like them.

well, here is the deal, I only managed to get 2 so far, (hoping to get a few more but may be awhile)

i did also get a black 3/8 5250pbl.... I ended up having to give a bit more than i anticipated.... but I would still be able to sell them at 35.00 shipped within U.S.... if anyone is still interested, please send me a PM and will let them go in order of response there.... also preferred payment would be paypal...
