Order was placed 2/21, doing ship to store in St.Louis. No update yet. Like previously mentioned if it processes then "YAY", if it gets cancelled then DARN it just keep my eyes open for the next deal and try again. But I will continue to be patient and won't be contacting the seller.........unless of course they mistakenly send me multiple sets by accident. Hehe [emoji57]

It's almost as if showing some patience is a negative attribute to possess these days "OH WELL".

The brown tool truck guy came with my set today. Aside from the massive case it came in, I am EXTREMELY please with the set. Also it seems like Grainger is making good on all these orders. I don’t think they have cancelled any yet. Just be patient guys, for the price we paid I think even a 6 month wait is well worth it. The ratchet alone is worth $30.

I'm glad you got your set--as the man who found the deal you deserve one!

Not sure if these are your first Proto tools, but if so welcome to the club. I've got Plomb/Proto going back to the 30s from my father and grandfather. Before I inherited that stuff my first good quality ratchet set was a 3/8" Proto set I got from Grainger in the mid 80s. All of those tools from the Plomb/Proto family, including some recent purchases in the last year, are of the first water. Fine of fit and finish, tough, made to use every day.

Use in good health and enjoy, and thanks for finding the deal and introducing some folks who haven't seen Proto to a source of fine American hand tools.

I received my order, today. I, too, would have preferred the metal case (or at least a similar sized plastic case). This thing is way larger than it needs to be. I guess you'll always find it. This is my second Proto product set; I already had a set of nut drivers.

I wasn't sure how much I would like the ratchet, from the pictures. After a quick fondling, I like it a lot. It feels like a quality piece, up to any standard. At the bargain bin price, I'm thrilled!

Glad to hear that Grainger seems to be fulfilling some orders at least.

Placed my order within 30 minutes of this thread going live and haven't heard a word from Grainger since the next day when they changed my delivery date to 3/15.

Same here I even created an account during my order but it doesn't show up.

Same here, not a peep until I got the shipping confirmation a day before the set arrived.

My friend got his today as well.

I called Grainger today and their response is that Proto recalled all the sets for poor chrome finish that was flaking off, and that is the cause of the backorder, whatever that is worth.

I got mine yesterday , the sockets are 12 point but I really prefer 6 point sockets. I cant really complain for the price.

I used to have that preference, until I got Proto sockets. The Proto 12 point performed as good or better than my old 6 point ones, so I only use 12 point now for most things.

One email and three phone calls and they were very apologetic and said I should receive my sets Monday. Fingers crossed, we shall see

I’m beginning to think I am the only one that hasn’t got a shipping confirmation. I’ll give it another week and give them a call.

I just got an email to call them about a billing issue, the credit card I used expired between then and now. so I guess when I call tomorrow mine should be on the way with any luck.

I finally called a couple days ago and was told mine were out to May. Not a big deal as long as they come eventually.
