I called Proto's customer service because a screw head broke off on my 4749pbl ‏1/4"drive pear head ratchet. According to them, they can't send me a new screw or a repair kit cause both are discontinued. Do i have any options (other than buying a repair kit from a 3rd party source)? Thanks.

Grainger.com has closeout proto ratchets like this and repair kits for them too.. But I went through two repair kits before realizing that the screws in a standard MAC ratchet fit just fine and dont snap off. Mac used this proto design for their "own" fine tooth ratchets (not the one I have shown) for a while but discontinued them.

Just go to your mac truck if there is one around and get a set of screws from a repair kit for a mr7fpa or similar ratchet.

In the pic you can see these are two different ratchet styles but i have the same screws in both

I've always just bought replacement screws from my local hardware store. I've never needed a screw they didn't have. But, your luck may very.
