I bought this Proto 1/2 dr. bent extension recently with a group of tools at the flea market. Google doesn't bring up a single reference to a Proto 6430. I've reviewed several older Proto catalogs I've located online but have not found it, or any similar Proto tool. Anyone have info on this?

Thanks!

that's pretty cool... never seen something like that before. where's the guy on here who made the post a while back about wanting a tool that was kind of like a speeder broken into three different pieces? looks like someone at proto maybe thought that was a good idea too, LOL.

Torque Wrench adapter designed for Powerglide Chevrolets.

As always, fast answers from the GJ forum - thanks!

I assumed it was a specialty tool, because the small size of the 'U', and virtually no clearance to the ratchet.

An interesting (to me) coincidence - my first car (69 Camaro) had a powerglide ****** when I bought it in 1976, and the 'powerslide' quickly started living up to its reputation. Replaced it with a Muncie close ratio 4-speed.

It's a Torque Wrench adapter designed for Powerglide Chevrolets. Below is from the 1962 catalog:

I have that ProTo 6420; one of the torque wrench adapters you pictured.
I bought that one in 1970 for the re-torque of the headbolts under a rocker arm shaft..

6430,,, Maybe the 6430 usage pertains to the newer aluminum case Powerglide?
I have a full set of GM special service tools for the old cast-iron case Powerglide; stored in a bucket for close to 44 years.. Time to look them over again, and see if there is anything that resembles the 6430 ..:)
There are times that those unusual tools find a new job to do....
